Regular Season Round 8: Shizuoka - Iwate 73-66

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Iwate (7-2) against fourth ranked Shizuoka (8-1) on Saturday night. Visiting Iwate was defeated by Shizuoka in a tough game in Shizuoka 66-73. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Iwate. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Worth to mention a great performance of Argentinian forward Alexis Elsener (195-1988, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 8 rebounds and American center Kenny Lawson (207-1988, college: Creighton) who added 12 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Elsener is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Shizuoka players scored in double figures. American forward Kristian Doolittle (201-1997, college: Oklahoma, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds and his fellow American import power forward Gerald Beverly (202-1993, college: Daemen) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. Iwate's coach Yukinori Suzuki rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Shizuoka have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Kagoshima. Iwate at the other side dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. Shizuoka will again play against Iwate (#4) at home in the next round. Iwate will have a break next round.
