Regular Season Round 8: Gifu - Kanazawa 80-82
Date: November 5, 2022
Rather predictable result when tenth ranked Kanazawa (4-5) edged on the road 14th ranked Gifu (1-8) 82-80 on Saturday. Kanazawa forced 19 Gifu turnovers. The winners were led by Ukrainian forward Oleksandr Antypov (203-1995, agency: BIG) who scored that evening 36 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and swingman Kakeru Kanakubo (191-1997) supported him with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Even 21 points and 8 rebounds by American forward Jerrell Wright (204-1991, college: La Salle) did not help to save the game for Gifu. His fellow American import forward Noah Dahlman (202-1989, college: Wofford) added 16 points and 12 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the hosts. Four Gifu players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Kanazawa have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to ninth place. Gifu lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with eight games lost. They share it with Tachikawa. Kanazawa will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Gifu will play again against Kanazawa (#9) and hope to win that game.
