Regular Season Round 5: Goyang - KoGas 83-92

There was a surprise result when eighth ranked KoGas (2-4) beat 4th placed Goyang (3-2) in Daegu 92-83 on Sunday. KoGas dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Goyang's 34. They outrebounded Goyang 36-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. KoGas looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American forward Murphy Holloway (201-1990, college: Ole Miss, agency: Octagon Europe) nailed a double-double by scoring 17 points, 14 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals for the winning side and Filipino guard SJ Belangel (177-1999) accounted for 25 points. American center David Simon (208-1982, college: PFW) came up with 18 points and 7 rebounds and international guard Seonghyen Jeon (190-1991) added 16 points and 4 assists respectively for Goyang in the defeat. Five KoGas and four Goyang players scored in double figures. Goyang's coach Byong-Chul Kim tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. KoGas moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Seoul Knights. Loser Goyang dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. KoGas will meet league's leader Anyang on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Goyang will play against Seoul Thunders (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
