Regular Season Round 7: Ningbo R. - Guangdong ST 90-120

Bottom-ranked Rockets (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 120-90 loss to tenth ranked Guandong Tigers (4-2) in Ningbo on Wednesday evening. They made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. Guandong Tigers looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists. It was a great evening for American MarShon Brooks (197-1989, college: Providence) who led his team to a victory scoring 30 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international Rui Zhao (195-1996) helped adding 12 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists. At the losing side Montenegrin forward Marko Todorovic (208-1992) responded with 19 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and guard Bairun Li (186-2000) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 assists. Five Guandong Tigers and four Rockets players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Guandong Tigers. Defending champion moved-up to sixth place. Rockets lost their seventh game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with seven games lost. Guandong Tigers will meet Flying Tigers (#10) in the next round. Rockets will play against Monkey Kings (#9) in Jiangsu and hope to get finally their first victory.
