Cleanthony Early (203-F-1991, college: Wichita St.) starred for Al Ettihad with 42 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists as his team downed Al Najma, 100-94, in the first game of the three-match play-offs for the semi-finals of the 2022-23 Zain Bahrain Basketball League at the Zain Basketball Arena in Um Al Hassam. Two best-of-three series are being played between four teams - Al Ettihad, Al Najma, defending champions Manama and Bahrain Club - to determine which two teams will go on to join Muharraq and Al Ahli in the semi-finals. Having taken a 1-0 lead in their three-game match-up against Al Najma, Al Ettihad will now be looking to seal their entry into the last-four stage by winning the second game on Wednesday. But, based on their performance last night, Al Najma will be no pushovers and will be seeking to stay alive in the series, meaning the upcoming game has the makings of a cracker of a contest. If Al Najma do manage to win the second match, the two teams will head into the third game which is scheduled for April 19. Meanwhile, the Manama-Bahrain Club three-match series will start with the first game on Friday, with the second match scheduled for April 18. If needed, a third game will be played on April 25. |
