2023 World Cup Qualifiers: China needed overtime to beat Bahrain

China edged Bahrain 80-67 in overtime at the 2023 World Cup Asian Qualifiers. They started better and took an 18-12 lead at the end of the first 10 minutes. Later on Bahrain managed to catch up with the opponents and Wayne Chism (206-PF-1987, college: Tennessee) made a three-pointer to tie the game at 64-64. In overtime China, however, was unstoppable and erupted with a massive 16-3 surge.
Zhelin Wang (214-C-1994) top-scored for the winners with 27 points and 14 rebounds. Peng Zhou (206-SF-1989) poured in 12, whilst Rui Zhao (195-SG-1996) had 11. Wayne Chism ended up with 23 points and 11 rebounds in a loss and Maitham Isa (182-G-1990) produced 16.
