Ali Jaber steered Al Najma to their fourth victory of the season in the Zain Bahrain Basketball League at Zain Arena in Um Al Hassam yesterday. Al Najma bounced back from last week's defeat to Manama as they sealed an emphatic 104-89 sixth-week victory against Sitra, who have registered just one victory so far. Jaber led the way with 29 points, eight rebounds and 10 assists and he was supported by Chester Giles (211-C-85, college: Oregon St.) and Mohammed Buallay who scored 20 points apiece. Marcel Jones was the top scorer for Sitra with 30 points.
In another game yesterday, Manama clinched their fourth straight victory defeating Isa Town 143-103. Devin Ebanks (206-F-89, college: WVU) was Manama's top scorer with 35 points, 10 rebounds and four assists while Ali Hussain Ali chipped in with 20. Manama, who have played just four games this season, defeated Sitra 98-61 in the opening week before holding off Al Hala and Najma in the other games. Isa Town, who continue their winless streak, are at the bottom of the table with five points from five games. Reigning champions Al Ahli have stayed perfect and lead the table with 10 points from five games.
