Marcel Jones
Sitra Club (Premier League) agreed terms with experienced 36-year old American (has also New Zealander passport) forward Marcel Jones (203cm-99kg-85, college: Oregon State). Jones played last summer at Mountainairs in New Zealand NBL league. In 17 games he had very impressive stats: 23.2ppg, 9.6rpg, 3.8apg, 1.7spg and 1.1bpg. 2021-21 was a great season as he was named to Australiabasket.com All-New Zealand NBL 2nd Team and All-Domestic Players Team. The last season he played at Al-Ittihad where in 7 Bahrain games he recorded also remarkable stats: 36.1ppg, 20.9rpg, 3.9apg, 1.3spg and 1.3bpg. 2020-21 was a great season as he was named to Asia-Basket.com All-Bahrain League 2nd Team and All-Imports Team.
In 2008 he was drafted by Iowa Energy (D-League) in fourth round (50th overall).
The former Oregon State star is in his 14th (!!!) season in pro basketball.
He is quite experienced player. Jones' career allowed him to visit four different continents, while he played in fifteen different countries. Jones tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia, Australia and of course North America. He has played previously professionally also in Bosnia (HKK Zrinjski HT Mostar), Finland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Kosovo (Prishtina and Bashkimi), Qatar (Al Gharafa), Romania (Pitesti), Saudi Arabia (Al Ittihad), Slovenia (Joneslios Suns), Syria (Al Wahda), Turkey (Akhisar Bld), United Kingdom and Bahrain (Al-Ahli and Al-Riffa) and New Zealand (Rangers, Jets, Rams, Saints and Huskies).
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others his team made it to the New Zealand NBL Semifinals in 2012, 2016, 2017 and 2020. He was also voted Australiabasket.com All-New Zealand NBL Forward of the Year in 2016, 2017 and 2020.
