POSTED BY: Ahmad Madwar
Mays played most recently at Shandong Heroes in Chinese CBA league. In 28 games he averaged impressive 15.8ppg, 9.9rpg, 1.6apg, 1.7spg and 1.2bpg last season. The previous (2019) summer Mays was tested by Shaanxi (NBL) in Chinese league where in two games he had very remarkable stats: 21.0ppg, 14.5rpg and 2.0apg in 2019 season. In 2008 Colorado 14ers selected him as second overall pick in D-League draft. He attended Clemson University and it is his 14th (hopefully lucky) season in pro basketball. Mays has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2013. Strangely he also played for Central African National Team in 2013. Mays played at the Arab Club Championships Quarterfinals six years ago. He is a very experienced player. Mays has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to nine different countries on three different continents (Asia, Latin America and of course North America). Mays has played previously professionally in Dominican Republic, Italy, Philippines, Puerto Rico (Capitanes), Turkey, NBA G League (Sioux Falls S. and Maine RC), South Korea (LG Sakers and SK Knights), China (Eagles and Guizhou) and D-League (Springfield A.). Among many awards his team made it to the Korean KBL Semifinals in 2019. Mays received also Asia-Basket.com All-Korean KBL Center of the Year award in 2019. His game is described as: Showed an improved ability to find open looks for teammates; one of the quickest post players in the conference and maybe in the entire countryhas the ability to create crowd enthusiasm by turning in exciting playshe's also a very good defender, sees well the court and passes the ball well.
