Josh Boone (ex Hawks) agreed terms with Al-Riffa- August 9, 2020
The previous (18-19) season Boone played at United (also in NBL) where in 34 games he averaged 10.5ppg, 8.4rpg, 1.5apg and 1.4bpg. He helped them to make it to the final after they ended regular season as second best team. A very good season in his career as he was voted to Australiabasket.com All-Australian NBL Honorable Mention and League Player of the Week (2 times). In 2006 Boone was drafted by New Jersey Nets (NBA) in first round (23rd overall). He attended University of Connecticut and it will be his 15th (!!!) season in pro basketball. Boone is a very experienced player. He has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to seven different countries on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Australia and of course North America). Boone has played previously professionally in China (Golden Bulls), Estonia (Kalev/Cramo), Hong Kong (Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions), Philippines (Ginebra Kings), Russia, Turkey (Pinar Karsiyaka) and The Basketball Tournament (HBC Sicklerville and Tri-State Titans). Among many awards Boone won Australian NBL championship title in 2018. He received also Australiabasket.com All-Australian NBL Center of the Year award in 2018. It may be one of last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Al-Riffa. Boone's game is described as: (by Aran Smith for NBADraft.net in 2006) Has a great attitude, plays hard, wants to improve ... Strong defensively ... Explosive leaper, with good timing and instincts on blocked shots ... Giant wingspan gives him added size ... Fights hard for rebounds, hustles for loose balls ... Big strong hands, when he gets his hands on a rebound it's his ... Needs to develop better offensive post moves ... Must develop a consistent mid range jump shot ... By Eurobasket Data Center
