MARCEL JONES

33-year old forward Marcel Jones (203-F-85) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Al-Ahli and receives a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 8.
He had a double-double of 36 points and 18 rebounds, while his team crushed Isa Town (#11, 1-6) with 16-point margin 88-72. Al-Ahli is placed at 3rd position in Bahrain league. They are still close to the very top. Al-Ahli would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 6-1 record. In the team's last game Jones had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be Al-Ahli's top player in his first season with the team. Oregon State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Jones is in league's top in points (4th best: 29.5ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 19.2rpg), assists (9th best: 4.8apg) and averages solid 1.7bpg and 64.1% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Jalen Robinson (206-F/C-93) of Al-Hala. He is Thailand forward in his first season at Al-Hala. In the last game Robinson recorded impressive double-double of 34 points and 17 rebounds. Bad luck as Al-Hala was edged by slightly higher-ranked Al-Najma (3-4) 81-80. This loss caused Al-Hala to drop to 8th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 3-4 record. Robinson is a newcomer at Al-Hala and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 29.6ppg (#3). He also registered 15.8 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to center Mile Ilic (215-C-84) of Al-Ittihad (#5). Ilic showcased his all-around game by recording 19 points, twenty one rebounds (!!!) and six assists in the last round. He was a key player of Al-Ittihad, leading his team to a 73-62 win against the lower-ranked Al-Nweidrat (#12, 1-7). Al-Ittihad needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 4 victories and 3 lost games. Ilic has a great season in Bahrain. After only 7 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 21.6ppg (6th best) and rebounds with 20.3rpg (#1 in league). He also has 2.0bpg and FGP: 55.4%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Sean Williams (208-F-86) of Al-Muharraq - 18 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Kevin Rogers (206-PF-86) of Al-Najma - 31 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Lester Ferguson (208-F-88) of Al-Bahrain - 28 points and 14 rebounds
