Muharraq - Manama 69:77

Manama defended their Zain Basketball League title. They overcame Muharraq in the sixth game of the championship series in Um Al Hassam yesterday to clinch the trophy. Hussain Mohammed (PG) unleashed 29 points to pace the winners.
Muharraq grabbed a 21:17 lead after the opening quarter. Manama however bounced back in the second frame. They went on a 20:8 rally to secure a 37:29 halftime advantage. The hosts stuck around in the third term. Muharraq pulled within one at the final intermission. But Manama ignited a 20:13 rally in the fourth term and sealed the winning outcome. Ivan Maras (207-PF-86, agency: 011 Sports) accounted for 23 points, while Mohammed Qurban (187-F-87) added 11 points for Manama. Chester Giles (211-F/C-85, college: Oregon St.) responded with 24 points for Muharraq. Bader Abdulla Malabes (87) posted 17 points in the loss.

Bahrain finish fourth in Arab basketball - 2 days ago
BAHRAIN missed out on the bronze medal last night in the 23rd Arab Men's Basketball Championship in Cairo losing to hosts Egypt 72-84 in the game for third place. The gold medal was claimed by Saudi Arabia, who beat Algeria 85-81 in the final. The UAE finished last. BAHRAIN bowed out of title contention in the 23rd Arab Men's Basketball Championship last night after a heartbreaking 66-74 loss to Algeria in the semi-finals. The Bahrainis kept things close for three quarters, but in the final canto could not match their rivals. KENNY WILLIAMS Al Hilla (IBL) signed 32-year old American forward Kenny Williams (201-102kg-86, college: Angelo State).
