Manama repeat as Zain Basketball League champions - May 7, 2014

Manama defended their Zain Basketball League title. They overcame Muharraq in the sixth game of the championship series in Um Al Hassam yesterday to clinch the trophy. Hussain Mohammed (PG) unleashed 29 points to pace the winners. Muharraq grabbed a 21:17 lead after the opening quarter. Manama however bounced back in the second frame. They went on a 20:8 rally to secure a 37:29 halftime advantage. The hosts stuck around in the third term. Muharraq pulled within one at the final intermission. But Manama ignited a 20:13 rally in the fourth term and sealed the winning outcome. Ivan Maras (207-PF-86, agency: 011 Sports) accounted for 23 points, while Mohammed Qurban (187-F-87) added 11 points for Manama. Chester Giles (211-F/C-85, college: Oregon St.) responded with 24 points for Muharraq. Bader Abdulla Malabes (87) posted 17 points in the loss.
