ASEAN League round 9 best performance: C.J. Gettys- February 8, 2023
The 28-year old player had a double-double of 25 points and 16 rebounds, while his team beat Macau (#5, 5-6) 89-82. Singapore S. maintains the 4th position in ASEAN League . They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Singapore S. will need more victories to improve their 6-4 record. Gettys turned to be Singapore S.'s top player in his first season with the team. Former Rutgers University star has very solid stats this year. Gettys is in league's top in points (7th best: 20.6ppg), rebounds (4th best: 11.3rpg) and averages impressive 52.7% FGP. The second best player in last round's games was young American Antonio Hester (199-PF-1990, agency: Rigorer Korea Agency) of Zamboanga. Hester had a very good evening with a double-double of 36 points and 13 rebounds. It was enough for Zamboanga to edge slightly lower-ranked Tigers (#8, 1-10) 84-80. Despite this victory Zamboanga slide down in the standings to 6th position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 5-6 record. Hester is one of the most experienced players at Zamboanga and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 24.6ppg (#2). His other stats are also decent: 9.8rpg and 3.9apg. Former University of Mobile star Hester is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Isaiah Wade (201-PF-1998) of Macau (#5). Wade scored 24 points and grabbed fourteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Wade's great performance Macau lost 82-89 to slightly higher-ranked Singapore S. (#4, 6-4). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Macau ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 6 games, recording just five victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Wade could help Macau to bring them higher in the standings. Wade has a great season in ASEAN League. After 11 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 22.4ppg (4th best) and rebounds with 12.8rpg (3rd best). Other top performing players last week: 4. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
