Amir Williams claims ASEAN League weekly honour- January 20, 2023
The 30-year old center had a double-double of 31 points and fifteen rebounds, while his team beat HK Eastern (6-2) 75-70. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. NS Matrix is placed at 2nd position in ASEAN League. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. NS Matrix will need more victories to improve their 6-2 record. In the team's last game Williams had a remarkable 72.2% from 2-point range. He turned to be NS Matrix's top player in his first season with the team. Ohio State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Williams is in league's top in points (6th best: 22.3ppg), rebounds (6th best: 11.5rpg) and averages solid 2.5bpg and 71.3% FGP. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American center C.J. Gettys (213-C-1994, agency: Haylett Sports) of Singapore S.. Gettys impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 29 points and 12 rebounds. Of course he led Singapore S. to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Louvre S. (#7, 1-7) 138-83. Singapore S.'s 4th position in the standings has not changed. His team's 5-3 record is not bad at all. Gettys is a newcomer at Singapore S. and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. The third best performed player last round was another Singapore S.'s star - American Xavier Alexander (196-F-1988). Alexander showcased his all-around game by recording 25 points, five rebounds and fifteen assists (!!!) in the last round. He was another key player of Singapore S., helping his team with a 138-83 easy win against the lower-ranked Louvre S. (#7, 1-7). Singapore S. needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 5 victories and 3 lost games. Alexander has a great season in ASEAN League. After 13 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 5.3apg (best passer). He also has 2.1spg and 1.4bpg. Other top performing players last week: 4. Kentrell Barkley (195-G/F-1996) of Singapore S. - 24 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists 5. Evan Gilyard II (178-G-1998) of Saigon Heat - 29 points, 7 rebounds and 14 assists 6. Jeremy Combs (201-C/F-1995) of Saigon Heat - 23 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists 7. Antonio Hester (198-F-1990) of Zamboanga - 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists 8. Isaiah Wade (201-PF-1998) of Macau - 20 points, 16 rebounds and 3 assists 9. Marcus Hammonds (196-SF-1987) of Louvre S. - 36 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists 10. Delvin Goh (201-F-1995) of Singapore S. - 16 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
