PETER RAMOS

Experienced American-Puerto Rican Peter Ramos (222-C-85) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's leader SM Beermen and that's him to receive a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 17.
The 33-year old center had a double-double of 30 points and eighteen rebounds, while his team crushed Saigon H. (#4, 10-7) with 24-point margin 111-87. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed SM Beermen to consolidate first place in the ASEAN League. SM Beermen have a solid 12-2 record. In the team's last game Ramos had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be SM Beermen's top player in his first season with the team. Ramos has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (4th best: 12.5rpg) and averages solid 63.6% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 27-year old American guard Jerran Young (198-G-91) of Singapore S.. Young impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 36 points and 14 rebounds. Of course he led Singapore S. to another comfortable win 95-76 over slightly lower-ranked CLS Knights (#6, 9-8) being unquestionably team leader. This victory allowed Singapore S. to move up to 5th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 9-6 record is not bad and everything may still change. Young is a newcomer at Singapore S. and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American Marcus Elliott (191-G-84) of second-ranked Hong Kong ELL. Elliott got into 30-points club by scoring 34 points in the last round. He went also for six rebounds and four assists. He was a key player of Hong Kong ELL, leading his team to a 111-109 win against the lower-ranked Macau (#7, 7-7). Hong Kong ELL needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 11 victories and 8 lost games. Elliott has a great season in ASEAN League. After 19 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.2ppg (8th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Michael Taylor (186-G-86) of Zhuhai - 37 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists
5. John Fields (205-F/C-88) of Singapore S. - 24 points and 13 rebounds
6. Michael Singletary (198-F-88) of Mono Vampire - 26 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists
7. Renaldo Balkman (203-F-84) of SM Beermen - 29 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists
8. O'Darien Bassett (189-G-86) of Hong Kong ELL - 30 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists
9. Anthony Tucker (193-G-89) of Macau - 33 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists
10. Xavier Alexander (198-G-88) of Singapore S. - 21 points, 9 rebounds and 12 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

The Player of the Week awards are presented by Interperformances. Interperformances is a full-service agency specializing in the representation of professional athletes the world-over.
