RENALDO BALKMAN

American-Puerto Rican Forward Renaldo Balkman (203-F-84) had an amazing evening in the last round for top-ranked SM Beermen, receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 16.
The 34-year old player had a double-double of 34 points and 13 rebounds, while his team crushed Zhuhai (#10, 2-15) with 19-point margin 100-81. It allowed SM Beermen to consolidate first place in the ASEAN League. SM Beermen have a solid 11-2 record. Balkman turned to be SM Beermen's top player in his first season with the team. Former University of South Carolina star has very solid stats this year. Balkman is in league's top in points (2nd best: 25.9ppg), rebounds (7th best: 12.1rpg) and averages impressive 1.4bpg and 60.2% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was another SM Beermen's star - 33-year old American Peter Ramos (222-C-85). Ramos had a very good evening with a double-double of 25 points and 22 rebounds. Of course together with Balkman he helped SM Beermen with another comfortable win 100-81 over the lower-ranked Zhuhai (#10, 2-15) being unquestionably team leader. Of course SM Beermen still keep the league's top spot. His team lost just two games this season, while they won 11 matches. Ramos is a newcomer at SM Beermen, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Michael Taylor (186-G-86) of Zhuhai (#10). Taylor got into 30-points club by scoring 39 points in the last round. He went also for six rebounds and eight assists. He was a key player of Zhuhai, leading his team to a 119-114 win against slightly higher-ranked Mono Vampire (#9, 3-12). Zhuhai can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 2-15 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for Taylor he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Taylor has a very solid season. In 6 games in ASEAN League he scored 25.3ppg. He also has 5.7rpg, 5.0apg and and 3PT: 40.5%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Michael Singletary (198-F-88) of Mono Vampire - 26 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists
5. Malcolm White (205-C/F-88) of Mono Vampire - 33 points and 10 rebounds
6. Samuel Deguara (223-C-91) of Hong Kong ELL - 23 points and 17 rebounds
7. Darryl Watkins (211-C-84) of CLS Knights - 17 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Kyle Barone (203-C-89) of Saigon H. - 22 points and 11 rebounds
9. Tyler Lamb (196-G-91) of Mono Vampire - 24 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists
10. Siu Wing Chan (185-F-92) of Hong Kong ELL - 24 points and 3 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
