There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with defeat of the leader and favorites losing the games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Singapore Singapore Slingers (8-3) on the court of seventh ranked Hong Kong Hong Kong ELL on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by Hong Kong ELL 88-81. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Singapore Slingers. American-Dominican guard ODarien Bassett (189-86, college: Troy) scored 26 points, 7 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and Maltese center Samuel Deguara (223-91) chipped in 17 points and 18 rebounds during the contest. Hong Kong ELL's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American guard Xavier Alexander (198-88, college: S.Nazarene) responded with 29 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Hong Kong ELL maintains seventh position with 4-8 record. Singapore Slingers at the other side still keep top place with three games lost. Hong Kong ELL are looking forward to face higher ranked Saigon Heat (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Singapore Slingers will play against Mono Vampire and are hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Kuala Lumpur. Seventh ranked Malaysian Westports MD (4-2) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 5th ranked Filipino SM Beermen (6-1) 72-71 on Wednesday evening. Jonathan Wong notched 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Nnanna Egwu supported him with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 6 blocks. Westports MD's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even a double-double of 31 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks by American-Puerto Rican forward Renaldo Balkman (203-84, college: S.Carolina) did not help to save the game for SM Beermen. Westports MD have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place. SM Beermen at the other side dropped to the fourth position with one game lost. Westports MD will play against bottom-ranked Zhuhai (#10) in the next round. SM Beermen will play against the league's second-placed Formosa D. (#2) in Changhua City and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Anthony Tucker fired a double-double by scoring 43 points (!!!) and 10 assists for the winners. Tevin Glass produced 43 points (!!!) and 7 assists for lost side. Macau have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 6-2 record. Loser Formosa D. keeps the second place with four games lost. They share the position with Saigon H.. Macau will meet CLS Knights (#8) in the next round. Formosa D. will play against SM Beermen (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
ASEAN League top team - Singapore Singapore Slingers (8-3) added another victory to their record. This time they beat tenth ranked Chinese Zhuhai (1-10) 107-103. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. Worth to mention a great performance of John Fields who helped to win the game recording 36 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. Singapore Slingers have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-3 record. Zhuhai at the other side stay at the bottom place with ten games lost. Singapore Slingers' next round opponent will be Mono Vampire (#9) in Bangkok and are hoping to win another game. Zhuhai will play on the road against Westports MD in Kuala Lumpur and hope to win that game.
8th ranked Thailand Mono Vampire (2-7) was outscored at home by ninth ranked Indonesian CLS Knights (3-7) with the biggest margin this round 110-82 on Wednesday night. Maxie Esho had a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!), 11 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. CLS Knights moved-up to eighth place. Loser Mono Vampire dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost. CLS Knights will face higher ranked Macau (#5) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Mono Vampire will play against the league's leader Singapore Slingers (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.

In the last game of round 10 Hong Kong ELL lost to SM Beermen on the opponent's court 75-87.



Macau - Formosa D. 116-110

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Taiwanese Formosa D. (7-4) against fifth ranked Chinese Macau (6-2) on Wednesday night. Visiting Formosa D. was defeated by Macau in a tough game in Macau 110-116. They made 26-of-29 free shots (89.7 percent) during the game. Macau forced 20 Formosa D. turnovers and had a 15-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Guard Anthony Tucker (193-89, college: MSU Moorhead) fired a double-double by scoring 43 points (!!!) and 10 assists for the winners. Power forward Ryan Watkins (206-91, college: Boise St., agency: Two Points) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds. Five Macau players scored in double figures. Forward Tevin Glass (206-94, college: E.Tenn.St.) produced 43 points (!!!) and 7 assists and guard Malcolm Miller (201-91, college: Southern) added 29 points and 8 assists (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. Macau have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 6-2 record. Loser Formosa D. keeps the second place with four games lost. They share the position with Saigon H.. American-Nigerian power forward Maxie Esho (206-91, college: Massachusetts, agency: Two Points) had a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!), 11 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and American center Darryl Watkins (211-84, college: Syracuse) chipped in 18 points and 16 rebounds during the contest. Five CLS Knights players scored in double figures. SM Beermen outrebounded Hong Kong ELL 56-40 including 17 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Hong Kong ELL's players. American-Puerto Rican center Peter Ramos (222-85) had a double-double by scoring 31 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American-Filipino guard Bobby-Ray Parks (193-93) chipped in 24 points and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side American-Dominican guard ODarien Bassett (189-86, college: Troy) responded with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and American guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. Hong Kong ELL's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. SM Beermen moved-up to fourth place. Hong Kong ELL lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with eight games lost. SM Beermen will face league's second-placed Formosa D. in Changhua City in the next round and it may be the game of the week.
