It's still too early stage of the Regular Season in ASEAN League, but even now we can clearly see the differece between stronger teams and outsiders. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most exciting game of round 5 in the ASEAN League took place in Macau. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Vietnamese Saigon Heat (4-2) to second ranked Chinese Macau (5-2) 97-95 on Wednesday evening. Macau looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Anthony Tucker (193-89, college: MSU Moorhead) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points, 5 rebounds and 14 assists. His fellow American import power forward Ryan Watkins (206-91, college: Boise St., agency: Two Points) chipped in 16 points and 21 rebounds. Canadian Murphy Burnatowski (196-91, college: Colgate) produced a double-double by scoring 29 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists for the guests. Macau have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 5-2 record behind leader Formosa D. Saigon Heat at the other side keeps the fourth position with two games lost. Macau will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Saigon Heat will play at home against Westports MD (#7) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
Malaysian Westports MD can celebrate their first win this season after two consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in , where they edged Chinese Zhuhai (0-7) 74-73. American forward Chris Eversley (201-91, college: Cal Poly - SLO) saved the victory by scoring 30 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Winston Shepard contributed with 25 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Westports MD's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Center Chen Cai (205-93) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds for Zhuhai. It was the only win of guest team this round and in all other games host teams recorded victories. Despite that victory Westports MD went down to seventh position due to points difference. It was Zhuhai's sixth loss in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. Westports MD will play against higher ranked Saigon Heat (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zhuhai will play against Singapore Slingers (#3) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
Taiwanese undefeated leader Formosa D. delivered the sixth consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time they beat 5th ranked Hong Kong Hong Kong ELL (3-4) 81-71 in Changhua City. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Hong Kong ELL. The game was dominated by American players. Tevin Glass stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners. Marcus Elliott responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Hong Kong ELL's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Formosa D.. They maintain first place with 6-0 record. Loser Hong Kong ELL keeps the fifth position with four games lost. Formosa D. will meet at home Mono Vampire (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hong Kong ELL will have a break next round.
Bottom-ranked Chinese Zhuhai (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 95-88 loss to fifth ranked Hong Kong Hong Kong ELL (3-4) in Hong Kong. Eric Ferguson nailed a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Hong Kong ELL's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Hong Kong ELL. They maintain fifth place with 3-4 record. Zhuhai lost their sixth game in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. Hong Kong ELL will have a break next round. Zhuhai will play on the road against Singapore Slingers (#3) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.



Zhuhai - Westports MD 73-74

Malaysian Westports MD can celebrate their first win this season after two consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in , where they edged Chinese Zhuhai (0-7) 74-73. American forward Chris Eversley (201-91, college: Cal Poly - SLO) saved the victory by scoring 30 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Bottom-ranked Chinese Zhuhai (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 95-88 loss to fifth ranked Hong Kong Hong Kong ELL (3-4) in Hong Kong. They made 22-of-26 charity shots (84.6 percent) during the game. Hong Kong ELL had a 34-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Eric Ferguson (203-89, college: Georgia South) nailed a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) accounted for 36 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Hong Kong ELL's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Chen Cai (205-93) came up with 28 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Michael Bell (206-82, college: Florida Atlantic) added 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Zhuhai in the defeat. Four Zhuhai players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Hong Kong ELL. They maintain fifth place with 3-4 record. Zhuhai lost their sixth game in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. Hong Kong ELL will have a break next round. Zhuhai will play on the road against Singapore Slingers (#3) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.

Chen Cai (205-C-93) had an amazing evening in the last round for Zhuhai and that's him to receive a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 11. The 25-year old center had the game-high 34 points adding eight rebounds and five assists for Zhuhai as his team lost the game against Westports MD (#6, 4-3) 83-89.
