There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in ASEAN League. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

Malaysian Westports MD (0-1) recorded a loss on the court of Singapore Singapore Slingers on Friday night. Visitors were rolled over by Singapore Slingers 101-47. Singapore Slingers dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Westports MD's 32. They outrebounded Westports MD 44-33 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Singapore Slingers looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Westports MD's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Singapore Slingers made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American guard Xavier Alexander (198-88, college: S.Nazarene) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 8 rebounds and 17 assists. The other American import power forward John Fields (205-88, college: Tennessee) chipped in 25 points and 13 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). American forward Chris Eversley (201-91, college: Cal Poly - SLO) produced 17 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Another exciting game where Taiwanese Formosa D. (2-0) edged by two points Hong Kong Hong Kong ELL (1-1) 82-80. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Tevin Glass (206-94, college: E.Tenn.St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Will Artino contributed with 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) replied with 36 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 5 assists for Hong Kong ELL. Hong Kong ELL's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Formosa D. will play against Zhuhai (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hong Kong ELL will play against Macau (#2) to get more than just one victory in their record.

In the last two games of round 2 Singapore S. defeated Mono Vampire in a road game 91-81. Winless Zhuhai lost to undefeated Macau at home 96-135.

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Bangkok where Thailand Mono Vampire (0-2) was defeated by Singapore Singapore Slingers (2-1) 91-81. Singapore Slingers dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Mono Vampire's 30. Singapore Slingers forced 20 Mono Vampire turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. The game was also dominated by American players. Guard Xavier Alexander (198-88, college: S.Nazarene) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 9 assists. Power forward John Fields (205-88, college: Tennessee) contributed with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Four Singapore Slingers players scored in double figures. Point guard Marcus Keene (180-95, college: Cent.Michigan, agency: Pensack Sports) replied with 35 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Michael Singletary (198-88, college: Texas Tech) added 28 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Mono Vampire. Mono Vampire's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Zhuhai - Macau 96-135

No shocking result in a game when Macau (2-0) smashed on the road Zhuhai (0-2) 135-96. Macau shot 61.8 percent from the field. They also forced 23 Zhuhai turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 32 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Zhuhai's players. American power forward Ryan Watkins (206-91, college: Boise St., agency: Two Points) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!) and 18 rebounds (on 18-of-19 shooting from the field). The other American import guard Anthony Tucker (193-89, college: MSU Moorhead) contributed with 29 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Center Chen Cai (205-93) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and American guard Deshawn Mitchell (197-89, college: St.Catharine) added 26 points in the effort for Zhuhai. Five Macau and four Zhuhai players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Macau will play against Hong Kong ELL (#5) on the road in the next round. Zhuhai will play against Formosa D. (#1) to get more than just one victory in their record.

Chen Cai (205-C-93) had an amazing evening in the last round for Zhuhai and that's him to receive a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 11. The 25-year old center had the game-high 34 points adding eight rebounds and five assists for Zhuhai as his team lost the game against Westports MD (#6, 4-3) 83-89.
