Round 7: HK Eastern lose to NS Matrix

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Hong Kong HK Eastern (6-2) in Hong Kong on Tuesday night. Hosts were defeated by Malaysian NS Matrix (6-2) 75-70. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of HK Eastern. It was a key game for the top position in the league. American center Amir Williams (211-1992, college: Ohio St.) fired a double-double by scoring 31 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import center Tevin Glass (203-1994, college: ETSU) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. NS Matrix's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American guard ODarien Bassett (187-1986, college: Troy) produced 27 points for lost side. NS Matrix have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending Malaysian champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Saigon Heat and HK Eastern.
The game in Zamboanga City supposed to be also worth to mention about. Third ranked Vietnamese Heat (6-2) played at the court of 6th ranked Filipino Valientes (3-5). Heat smashed Valientes 101-79. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Evan Gilyard II (178-1998, college: UMKC) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points, 7 rebounds and 14 assists. Jeremy Combs contributed with 23 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners. American forward Antonio Hester (198-1990, college: Mobile, AL) answered with 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for Valientes. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Vietnamese champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with HK Eastern and NS Matrix. Valientes lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixth place with five games lost.
The game in Surabaya supposed to be also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Singapore Singapore S. (5-3) played at the court of 7th ranked Indonesian Louvre S. (1-7). Singapore S. smashed Louvre S. 138-83 on Wednesday. It was a great evening for Kentrell Barkley who led his team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 24 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists. At the losing side Marcus Hammonds responded with 36 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. Louvre S.'s coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the third consecutive win for Singapore S.. They maintain fourth place with 5-3 record. Louvre S. lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the seventh position with seven games lost. They share it with Tigers.

In the last game of round 7 Zamboanga was defeated by Macau in a road game 90-78.
The best stats of 7th round was 25 points, 5 rebounds, 15 assists and 5 steals by Xavier Alexander of Singapore S..

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both sixth ranked Macau Macau and their close opponent Filipino Valientes had identical 3-4 record. This time Macau used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Zamboanga City 90-78 on Tuesday night. Macau made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. The game was dominated by American players. It was a great evening for Isaiah Wade (201-1998, college: UCO) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds. DeQuan Abrom (188-1996, college: Belm.Abbey) helped adding 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side forward Antonio Hester (198-1990, college: Mobile, AL) responded with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and center Ryan Smith (213-1995, college: Tulane) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. Four Macau and five Valientes players scored in double figures. Valientes' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Macau (4-4) moved-up to fifth place.
