Round 3: Singapore S. lose their first game against HK Eastern

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Singapore Singapore S. (2-1) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by Hong Kong HK Eastern (3-0) 68-52. It was a great evening for Croatian-Australian swingman Dominic Gilbert (198, college: UBC, agency: BIG) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 17 rebounds. Forward Adam Xu (196-1993, college: New York U.) helped adding 12 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). The best for the losing side was American center CJ Gettys (213-1994, college: Rutgers, agency: Haylett Sports) with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 22 rebounds. HK Eastern are looking forward to face Louvre S. (#6) in Surabaya in the next round. Singapore S. will play at home against Valientes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Valientes' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Heat will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Valientes will play on the road against Singapore S. (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 3 winless Macau were destroyed by NS Matrix on the opponent's court 73-54. Saigon Heat outscored Louvre S. in a home game 108-47.

Saigon Heat - Zamboanga 75-71

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when Macau Macau (0-3) was crushed on the road by Malaysian NS Matrix (2-2) 73-54 on Friday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when NS Matrix made 8 blocks. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was center Tevin Glass (203-1994, college: ETSU, agency: BIG) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. Center Amir Williams (211-1992, college: Ohio St.) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Five NS Matrix players scored in double figures. They outrebounded Louvre S. 55-34 including a 46-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Heat looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Louvre S.'s players.
