Group A Angola - Australia 55-76 Australia recorded the third win at the World Championship preliminary round. They shot down Angola to improve at 3-2 record in Group A. Angola slipped at 2-3 record and set up an eighth-final clash against the USA. It was Angola who looked better in the opening frame. The African powerhouse kept the Aussies at bay. Angola established an 18:15 lead after ten minutes

Yi Injury May Be Ruse to Fool Unsophisticated Chinese Media and Fans - China - Sep.3, 2010
A FIBA story on the Chinese National Team dated today, August 3, quotes Jianlian Yi (212-C/F-87) but makes no mention of his Achilles tendon injury. This leads to the suspicion that this injury may be a ruse, made becuase of the lack of sophistication of Chinese basketball fans and the Chinese media. Coach Bob Donewald Jr. did as I suggested, and as any sophisticated Western basketball coach would have done, and gave valuable experience to his reserves in the game against Turkey

Willie Veasley joins Niigata Albirex - Japan - Sep.3, 2010
Niigata Albirex (BJ League) agreed terms with 23-year old American swingman Willie Veasley (190-G/F-87, agency: Warren Sports International). Veasley played most recently at Butler University (NCAA) in the U.S., where in 37 games recorded: 9.8ppg, 4.3rpg, 1.0apg, 1.2spg. Veasley helped Butler to make it to the NCAA Final after they won conference title. He was selected to Horizon League All-Defensive Team. It will be his first year in professional basketball
