 One of the biggest summer events, 'Hong-man Cup' (Leisure and Cultural Services Department Cup) was finished at 30th October. The most exicting event is the Men open between age 22 to 38, which were competed between many Division One players, and would be allowed to exchange the players temporarily. The finals of men's groups of aged 22 to 38 and 50 or above were playing in the Wan Chai Southern Stadium, although not too many spectators visited the game.

 Queen Elizabeth II Youth Centre (Old Eliz Stadium) which was built since 1952, hosted most the league games for half a century, was closed after 2nd October. Hong Kong Basketball Association enterntained the crowd with two invitation friendly games at the night of tribute. The fist freindly game was played among the retired famous players, and the second one was played between Hong Kong basketball team and Zhongshan city team.

 Hong Kong basketball team lost all five games in Malaysia International Basketball Championship, finishing bottom among the six teams. The championship also included Malaysia Petronas, Pure Youth of Taiwan, Singapore Slingers, India and Kyung-hee University of South Korea. Team manager Hung Yau-yik said already before the championship, Hong Kong would represented by the second team which was enjoying to earn more experience in the games.

 Hong Kong U18 and Malaysia U18 struggled for the first win in Group 4 and only 3 points separated the even teams. Hong Kong U18 led two points after three quarters and won 85:82. The winners started with 21:18, but then Malaysia U18 closed the first half at 47:43 advantage. With the same tough game the teams entered the last period with 63:61 for Hong Kong U18 as the latter led to 85:82 total win. Chow Kin Wan led the winners with 29 points and Lee Kwan Yu added 19.

 India U18-Hong Kong U18 110:64 Group A last game of the FIBA Asia U18 Championship for Men saw the battte for the third game and for the last. India U18 won over Hong Kong U18 110:64 to avoid the fourth place in Group A. The win in all the quarters brought the initial win for the Indian players. Vishesh Bhriguvanshi led the winners with 25 points. Pratham Singh nailed 21 and Shantilal added 12. Chow Kin Wan top-scored in defeat with 17 points and Lee Kwan Yu added 13.

 The 20th Edition of the FIBA Asia Junior Championship started in Iran and will be held from August 28 through September 5. The tourney will enjoy the participation of fifteen teams. They were divided into 4 preliminary groups. China, Japan, Hong Kong and India got into Group A. Group B comprised South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan and Syria. Chinese Taipei, Philippines, UAE and Lebanon got into Group C. Finally hosting Iran, Malaysia, Jordan and made up for Group D.

 Nike All-Hong Kong Youth Basketball League was finshed on 10th August. Youngster Lau Hoi-to ( Fukien PF/198cm/ 16yrs old) represented fot the team 'Air Zoom' in the U-19 group, which successfully won all the five games and clinched the title with a promising performence. The champion of U-19 group was decided by best two out of three between 'Air Zoom' and 'Uptempo', which was finsihed without much surprise that 'Air Zoom' won two straight games by 15 and 20 points representatively.

 Hong Kong High School All-Star Team made the new history as finishing fouth in the China National High School Basketball Copetition (South) hosted in Changsha Hunan at March 2008, meanwhile the key player of the Hogh school all-stars power forward Zhou Kin-wan will again lead the Hong Kong U-18 team to compete in Asian U-18 Men Basketball Championship in Tehran by 26th August.

 Hong Kong Men's Basketball team won the title of the Strait Cup 2008, as they defeated Fujian SBS Xunxing 86-81 in the host final at Southorn Stadium on 27th July. Moreover, point guard LAW Yi-ting of Hong Kong named the MVP and the Best Three-point shooter award in this tournament. He had scored 14 of his game high 28pts in the 4th period.
