Filipino National team completed the 24th SEA Games basketball tournament with another comprehensive victory. This time Philippines overcame Thailand to improve to 4-0 record. Thailand meanwhile finished the tournament with just a single victory. The hosts tried hard to stay close in the first half as they looked pretty convincing offensively. But it was still too difficult task to maintain well-balanced Filipino offense. Thailand however limited their opponents to 15 points in the second term to trail by 12 points at halftime. The momentum did not last too long for the home side as Filipino team raised the tempo after the break and surged ahead in the third stanza. Philippines entered the fourth period leading by 25 points and had little problems securing a confident victory at the end. Beau Belga (198-C-86) and Jayson William (180-G-86) produced 14 points apiece to pace Philippines. Al Vergara (173-G-79) and Jervy Cruz (193-F/C-86) contributed 12 points apiece for the winners. Piyapong Piroon (189-F-81) answered with game-high 17 points for Thailand. Chaiwat Kaedum (195-C-83) scored 15 points in defeat. Filipino players had an obvious advantage under the rims as they outrebounded the hosts 45:22. They also sank 51% from the field, while Thailand posted just 35% field goal accuracy. Thai players committed 21 turnovers and had little contribution coming off the bench.

Philippines claimed the 24th SEA Games title today as they beat Malaysia for the third straight victory. Philippines on their 3rd consecutive game at the tournament and became unattainable for any other squad in the ladder. They looked undoubtedly the best team during the Games and deservedly picked the trophy. This game turned out to be another spectacular display of Filipino team well-balanced game. All 12 players on the roster appeared on the court and posted points in an overwhelming victory. Seven players scored in double figures to lead Philippines. Filipino players build an insurmountable 23-point advantage at halftime. They extended the gap to huge 43 points heading into the fourth period and sealed the win in the dying stages. Al Vergara (173-G-79) topscored for the winners with 14 points. Jeffri Chan (191-F-83) and Allan Salansang (196-F-76) contributed 12 points apiece for Philippines. Chee Li Wei (198-F/C-83) answered with 12 points for Malaysia. Cheong Yow Keen (178-G-84) had 10 points as Malaysia fell to 2-2 record in the ladder. Filipino players outrebounded their opponents 43:26 and forced those to 19 turnovers. They shot 51% of field goals, while Malaysia were limited to 39% accuracy. Philippines are scheduled to complete their campaign tomorrow against hosting Thailand. The game will be played at the Keelapirom Stadium and will wrap up the men's competition.

| Indonesia eases past Cambodia | |

Indonesian National team overcame Cambodia in their last encounter at SEA Games in Thailand and completed the campaign with 3-1 record. Cambodia also wrapped up their competition run suffering the 4th straight victory and occupying the last spot in the ladder. Indonesia secured the second spot in the standings losing the only matchup to the best team at the tournament - Philippines.
Indonesia dominated the game leading from the start. Amin Prihantono (188-F-82) paced the team as he was consistent throughout the first half and Indonesia easily cleared off to a comfortable distance. They piled up a 14-point advantage after 10 minutes of action and later extended the gap to as many as 35 points at halftime. The third term did not bring much relief for Cambodia as they struggled offensively and Indonesia capitalized accumulating massive 44-point cushion. Finally the shots started to drop for Cambodia as their opponents loosened up their defensive barricades in the fourth period. Cambodia outscored Indonesia 24:20 in the final quarter but it had little impact of the final scoreline.
Amin Prihantono poured in 22 points for Indonesia. Faisal Ahmad (180-G-81) scored 15 points, while Mario Wuysang (177-G-79, college: Z*Ft.Wayne F.) had 13 points for the winners. Toun Sopeen (180-F/G-85) once again proved his excellent form with massive 39 points, 16 boards and 6 steals for Cambodia. Puthrothna Monh (180-G-81) added 12 points in the 4th straight defeat for Cambodia. Indonesia dominated virtually every aspect of ball game. They outrebounded their counterparts 45:36 and forced those 32 turnovers. Cambodia sank just 26% from the field and 68% from free throw line.

The hosts of the 24th SEA Games triumphed in their third encounter at the tournament. After the opening defeats Thailand finally found their rhythm and edged Cambodia. The outcome was mainly built in the starting frame as Thai players outscored their opponents 20:8. The game was pretty even afterwards as Cambodia tried hard to get their initial victory at the SEA Games. But it was Thai team that led by 14 points at halftime and never surrendered the lead. The teams struggled to play consistent basketball at the second half committing numerous mistakes. Both teams struggled in accuracy but having an advantage under the rims Thailand managed to maintain the lead. Cambodia outplayed 6 points in the final term but it was never enough to succeed in this close battle. Nontapob Vivattanapongpetch (186-C-81) led the winning side with 19 points and 7 boards. Jakkrapan Silapapipat (197-C-84) contributed 13 points and 13 boards for Thailand. Toun Sopeen (180-F/G-85) was a usual topscorer for Cambodia with game-high 22 points and 13 boards. Puthrothna Monh (180-G-81) added 10 points in a loss. Thailand outrebounded their counterparts 53:45 and forced Cambodia to 18 turnovers. Both teams shot only 26% from the field.
Thailand improved to 1-2 record and play against Philippines on Thursday. Cambodia fell to 0-3 record and complete their action tomorrow when they take on Indonesia.

The hosts of the 24th SEA Games Thailand suffered their second loss in a row as they fell just short against Indonesia today. Indonesia climbed to 2-1 record and still ponders over their title prospects. It never looked like losing affair for Thailand at the start though. The hosts who were coming out of a sour start to their campaign rushed ahead early in the game. Thailand played aggressive basketball and rolled to a 26:20 lead after 10 minutes of action. Indonesia tightened up defense in the second stanza and the hosts' scoring flow went dry. Thai players scored just 8 points in the second quarter but they still enjoyed a 34:32 advantage at halftime. Indonesia fought desperately for every inch of the initiative in the third period. Thailand withstood comeback efforts from Indonesia but the teams headed into the final term all square at 49. The teams exchanged the blows in the final quarter with tension mounting in the air. But Youbel Sondakh (188-F-84) stepped with important free throws late in the game to steal the win for Indonesia. He finished with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to pace Indonesia. Amin Prihantono (188-F-82) and Ronny Gunawan (194-F/C-80) (194-F/C-80) posted 9 points for the winners. Pramoch Jantharaniom (192-G/F-75) answered with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists for Thailand. Piyapong Piroon (189-F-81) scored 15 points as Thailand slipped to 0-2 record at the tournament.
Indonesia will next face Cambodia on Wednesday. Thailand plays against Cambodia tomorrow.
