South Africa withdraws from 2011 Jones Cup - Aug 4, 2011

South Africa national team has withdrawn from the 2011 William Jones Cup tournament due to funding problems, the Chinese Taipei Basketball Association announced Thursday.

After the withdrawal, the entire tourney has been re-scheduled. A playoff round will be added after the eight-team single round robin preliminary round. The schedule is listed as follows:

Canada triumph in Taipei at the William Jones Cup 2017. They finished on top with an 8-1 record after the win over Republic of China White 117-83. Diego Kapelan (190-G-87, college: McNeese St.) was named MVP of the tournament as he scored 17 points. Canada demolished Japan 108-60 as Dallin Bachynski (213-C-91, college: Utah) stepped up with 19 points and Diego Kapelan (190-G-87, college: McNeese St.) had 17. Lithuania and Canada remained dominant at the William Jones Cup in Taiwan. Lithuania overcame Philippines 91-80 as Eigirdas Zukaukas showed the way for Lithuania with 22 points and seven assists on top of four rebounds and three steals.
