South Africa withdraws from 2011 Jones Cup - Aug 4, 2011

South Africa national team has withdrawn from the 2011 William Jones Cup tournament due to funding problems, the Chinese Taipei Basketball Association announced Thursday.

After the withdrawal, the entire tourney has been re-scheduled. A playoff round will be added after the eight-team single round robin preliminary round. The schedule is listed as follows:

Philippines - Taiwan B 96-64 Philippines ensured the second-place finish at the William Jones Cup. They stormed past Taiwan B for 6-2 overall record in Taipei. New Zealand - Taiwan 84-86 Taiwan stayed in the hunt for the second-place finish at the tournament. The hosts nipped the Wellington Saints to improve at 5-2 record.
