They limited South Korea to 10 points in the third term to ensure a 48:47 lead with one period left. Iran held their opponents to 12 points in the final period and raced to the triumph at the end. Oshin Sahakian (201-F-86, agency: Agency No 10) produced 13 points and 8 rebounds, while Javad Davari (185-G-83) finished with 7 points in the win. Kim Joo-Sung (205-F/C-79) responded with 19 points and 6 rebounds for South Korea. 3-4 place Philippines - Taiwan 82:72 Philippines earned the third position at the William Jones Cup. They shot down Taiwan in the consolation final tonight. Marcus Douthit (211-F/C-80, college: Providence) stepped up with 28 points and 11 rebounds to pace the charge. Philippines surged ahead 8:2 early in the encounter. They maintained the lead posting a 22:16 lead after ten minutes. Philippines established a 43:34 halftime lead. The Filipino team kept their opponents at bay throughout the third stanza. They piled up a 62:49 lead with one quarter remaining. Taiwan outscored the visitors in the final frame but never threatened the margin as Philippines breezed to the victory. Marcio Lassiter (188-G-87, college: Cal.St. Fullerton) notched 16 points, while Donaldo Hontiveros (188-G-77) had 13 points in the victory. Chien Chia-Hung (197-F-87) responded with 26 points and 7 rebounds for Taiwan. Chen Shun-Hsiang (190-F-85) netted 13 points in defeat.
5-6 place Japan - Jordan 77:73 Japan finished their William Jones Cup campaign on a high note. They held off Jordan to earn the fifth overall position at the tournament. Takeki Shonaka (180-G-84) stepped up with 24 points to lead the charge. Jordan got to the better start. They posted a 21:17 lead after ten minutes. But Japan stiffened their defence limiting Jordan to just 9 points in the second frame. Japan denied the deficit and drew things level at 30. Jordan pulled ahead once again in the third period. They piled up a 6-point advantage with ten minutes remaining. But it was not enough. Japan went on a determined rally in the final period scoring 28 points and snatching victory at the end. Fumio Nishimura (177-G-86) provided 23 points, while Keijuro Matsui (188-G-85, college: Columbia) added 9 in the win. Wesam Al-Sous (189-G-83) responded with 17 points for Jordan. Islam Abbaas (200-C-80) had 15 points in the loss.

Title game: Iran 66-59 Korea Iran defeated Korea 66-59 in the title game of the 2011 William Jones Cup tournament Sunday to win its third straight title at the annual invitational tournament.
Iranian center Hamed Haddadi (218-C-85) of the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies followed his semifinal outburst of 36 points, 8 rebounds and five blocks against the Philippines with another brilliant outing, collecting 35 points, 18 rebounds and seven blocks against the Koreans in the title game.
Haddadi outplayed former NBA center Ha Seung-jin, who had four points and 8 boards before fouling out in the fourth quarter. Haddadi's strong showing quickly forced Korean center Kim Joo-sung to another disqualification.
Korea could never keep up with Iran after Kim and Ha both fouled out.
Iran's three-peat (2009-2011) marked the fifth consecutive year that a West Asia team wins the Jones Cup tournament. Jordan won the tourney in 2007 and 2008 before finishing as runner-up behind Iran in 2009.

Bronze medal game: Philippines 82-72 Taiwan Marcus Douthit once again dominated the paint as Philippines led from start to finish to win the third place in the Jones Cup, leading by as many as 22 in the fourth quarter before Taiwan used a 18-6 run to cut the deficit.
Taiwanese center Tseng Wen-ting sat out his second straight game due to hip muscle strain.

Taiwan however adjusted defensively and cut the deficit to just three points at halftime 23:26. The hosts went off the dressing room firing from all guns. Taiwan erupted for 29 points to take a 52:44 lead with one quarter remaining. But South Korea denied the deficit and drew things level at the end of regulation. The teams scored eagerly in the extra period but South Korea proved the difference scoring 19 points and celebrating victory at the end. Kim Yong-Hwan (195-F-84) delivered 14 points, while Kim Joo-Sung (205-F/C-79) added 12 points and 9 rebounds in the win.
