Palestine - Jordan 75-90
Jordan outscored Palestine to pick up the third straight win at the tournament. Mahmoud Abdeen (191-PG-87) nailed 30 points to lead the winners. Jordan found themselves trailing by 5 points at the interval 49:44. But Jordan went on a strong 46:26 run in the second half to seal yet another win in Amman. Mousa Alawadi (188-G-85) netted 23 points for the winners. Jamal Abu-Shamala (196-F/G-87, college: Minnesota) responded with 23 points and 6 boards for Palestine.

Lebanon - Iran 65-62
Lebanon topped Iran for the third straight victory in Amman. Fadi El Khatib (198-F/G-79) tossed in 21 points for the winners. Lebanon grabbed a 14:10 lead after ten minutes. Iran pulled within 2 points at the big break 27:25. The teams went neck and neck throughout the third term. Lebanon entered teh fourth stanza up by two points. They held Iran to just 15 points in the fourth stanza and raced to the victory. Wael Arakji (194-PG-94) accounted for 16 points for the winners. Mohammad Jamshidi (199-SF-91) responded with 15 points for Iran.

Iraq - Syria 66-53
Iraq opened win count at the championship. They beat Syria to snap two-game skid. Kevin Galloway (200-PG-88, college: Texas Southern) scored 25 points to lead the winners. Iraq recorded a 36:27 halftime lead. Syria narrowed the deficit in the third term. They pulled within 4 points at the final intermission. But Iraq held their opponents to just 8 points in the fourth quarter and rallied to the first victory. Mohammed Al-Khafaji (206-C-91) and Dhilfiqar Al-Hchaimi tossed in 12 points each for the winners. Omar Cheikh (204-C-91) responded with 16 points and 10 rebounds for Syria.


WABA Champions Cup 2018 relocated to Jordan from Iraq - 6 months ago
West Asian Basketball Association (WABA) officials have announced that the WABA Champions Cup 2018 will be relocated to Jordan from Iraq - with the tournament dates remaining March 12-16. The WABA decided to change the hosting country of the 18th edition of the Champions Cup due to security concerns of the players in Baghdad. Iran wins WABA U16 Championship - 1 Year ago
Iran won WABA U16 Championship with 5 participating teams. Iran posted four victories in the campaign and finished with a perfect 4-0 record. In the decisive game they overcame Lebanon 70-64. Iran and Lebanon earned the tickets to the Asian qualification as 2 teams out of 5 went through. Lebanon meanwhile finished with a 3-1 record defeating Jordan, Syria and Iraq.   [read more]
