Iran triumphs in Amman - 2 months ago

Iran triumphed at 16th WABA Championship finishing with a perfect 4-0 record. Dirk Bauermann 's men overcame Jordan 85-75 in their last game and sealed the top place. Last night Jordan beat Lebanon 83-82 and qualified for the 2016 FIBA Asia Challenge. Iraq meanwhile clinched third spot after a 84-61 win over Syria. Iran and Iraq posted victories on Day 4 of WABA 2016. Iraq surprised Lebanon in second overtime. Iraq took a 19-14 lead at the end of the first period and had a 32-30 half-time advantage. Both teams stayed close to each other in the rest of the game and finished fourth period with a 65-65 score on the board. Lebanon and Iran were victorious on Day 3 of the WABA 2016. Lebanon overcame Syria 90:79 to improve at 1-1 record. Lebanon led comfortably in the first two quarters, while Syria hit back thanks to superstar Michel Maadanly in the third quarter. In the last frame Lebanon needed a massive 22-9 surge to seal the victory. Geron Johnson (190-G-92, college: Memphis) had 39 points and Ali Mezher(182-PG-94) added 16 points.
