Malaysia - Uzbekistan 78:77 Malaysia earned the fourth win at the Asian Championship in Chennai. They eked out a tough victory against Uzbekistan to climb on top of Group B at 4-1 record. Uzbekistan suffered the fourth loss in five games and slipped at the fourth position. The game turned into a roller coaster as the teams traded baskets with the lead changing for numerous times. Dmitriyeva opened the score and Uzbekistan maintained the lead throughout the starting frame. They built a 21:18 advantage after ten minutes. Kashuba and Yelena Khusnitdinova (85) quickly stretched the margin at 10 points early in the second quarter. But Malaysia capped the first half with a 19:3 rally to enjoy a 40:34 halftime lead. Uzbekistan answered in the third frame. They accounted for 16 unanswered points midway through the stanza to restore the lead. They cruised to a 62:51 cushion with one quarter remaining. Yelena Khusnitdinova and Krasovskaya stretched the margin at 15 points midway through the fourth term and seemed the win would not slip away from Uzbekistan. But Malaysia had their own thoughts about it. They unleashed a determined comeback rally to grab a 4-point lead with 23 seconds left. Dmitriyeva cut the distance but Uzbekistan could not come any closer and had to give up. Suik May Kew (172-F-82) knocked down 18 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for Malaysia. Shin Min Yong (174-F-87) added 13 points, while Yann Yann Pee (174-F-85) produced 11 points in the victory. Irina Polunina (79) responded with 19 points for Uzbekistan. Yelena Khusnitdinova contributed 18 points and 8 rebounds in defeat.

Astana Tigers tipped off the new season with consecutive victories. They defeated Okzhetpes twice. The first game ended with the Tigers taking a 69:65 victory. Zaritskaya came up with 17 points for the hosts. Astana built a 13-point halftime lead and withheld all comeback efforts from the visitors in the second half. Irina Polunina answered with 14 points for Okzhetpes. Karnova netted 10 points in the loss.

Pik Jin Lee added 10 points in the win. Dlyara Asanova answered with 15 points and 20 rebounds for Uzbekistan. Tatyana Komarova provided 10 points in defeat.
