Al Ahli Dubai (D1) welcome back to their roster 31-year old American swingman Sam Young (198-100kg-85, college: Pittsburgh). He already played here the last season. But last summer Young signed with Guizhou in Chinese NBL league, but left shortly just after 3 games. He recorded very impressive stats: 25.3ppg, 5.3rpg and 1.3apg.
The last season while Young played at Al Ahli, he helped them to win the cup and make to league final.
In 2009 Young was drafted by Memphis Grizzlies (NBA) in second round (36th overall). He attended University of Pittsburgh and it will be his eighth season in pro basketball.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Young was voted Latinbasket.com Puerto Rican BSN All-Imports Team in 2014.
He is quite experienced player. Young's career allowed him to visit five different continents, while he played in seven different countries. Young tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia, Latin America, Australia and of course North America. He has played previously professionally in Australia (Kings), Italy (Juvecaserta), Mexico (Halcones UV Xalapa), Turkey (Usak Sportlif), NBA (Philadelphia 76ers, San Antonio Spurs and Indiana Pacers), Puerto Rico (Vaqueros) and Dominican Republic (Caneros de La Romana and San Sebastian).
On Young: Sam Young is a talented, gritty scorer and rebounder who displays outstanding competitiveness. Young has a good understanding of the game and fits perfectly into any team system. Young has showed his athleticism with spectacular dunks, thundering rebounds and surprising blocks. A power forward, Young can score inside or outside, is super athletic, plays good defense and gets up on the glass.
