Al Ahli adds Lawal to their roster - Apr 15, 2016

Gani Lawal
Al Ahli Dubai (D1) added to their roster 28-year old Nigerian ex-international power forward Gani Lawal (205-106kg-88, college: Georgia Tech). He just played at Reno Bighorns (D-League) in the U.S.. In 9 games he recorded 6.2ppg and 5.9rpg this season. Lawal also played at Knicks in D-League earlier that season. In 17 games he averaged 8.9ppg and 7.5rpg. The other team he played that season for was Delaware 87ers in D-League. In 10 games he averaged 4.7ppg, 4.0rpg and 1.3bpg. Another team Lawal played shortly was Armani Milano (Serie A) in Italian league. In three D-League games he averaged 5.0ppg, 3.3rpg and 1.7bpg. He also played 5 games in D-League where he averaged only 2.2ppg and 3.2rpg. The last season Lawal played at Panathinaikos (A1) in Greek league. In 7 games he averaged 4.0ppg and 1.6rpg. He also played 6 games in Euroleague where he averaged only 2.0ppg and 1.7rpg. Another team Lawal played that season for was Trabzonspor (BSL) in Turkish league. In 15 games he averaged 9.9ppg, 5.8rpg and 1.1bpg. He also played 9 games in FIBA Europe Cup where he averaged 9.3ppg, 5.4rpg and 1.3bpg.
In 2010 Lawal was drafted by Phoenix Suns (NBA) in second round (46th overall). He attended Georgia Tech and it is his sixth season in pro basketball. Lawal's team made it to the Italian final.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he was voted All-Italian SerieA 2nd Team back in 2013. Lawal also represented Nigeria at the Afrobasket Championships in Abidjan (Ivory Coast) three years ago. His stats at that event were 7 games: 5.9ppg, 4.3rpg, FGP: 50.0%, FT: 46.7%.
Lawal is quite experienced player. He has played also professionally in China (Xinjiang Flying Tige and Guangzhou Liu Sui), France (Chorale de Roanne), Latvia (VEF Riga), Poland (Stelmet), Italy (Virtus Roma) and NBA (Philadelphia 76ers).
