Al Wasl to face Al Rayyan at the GCC Clubs Basketball Championship Semifinal that will be played on May 8th in Bahrain. The team from the United Arab Emirates finished second with 1-2 record and managed to grab the last ticket to the semis. Al Rayyan advanced to Final Four of 32nd GCC Clubs Basketball Championship as they won the first two games and clinched the top place in Group A.
The most important victory for Al Wasl was over Al-Ittihad from Saudi Arabia 76:60. The first quarter ended 28-20 for Al Wasl, who maintained momentum to clinch a 48-27 lead at half-time. Al Wasl also won the third period 20-16 and captured the victory by 16 points.
Al Rayyans important victory was over Muharraq 85:83. Pony Harold brought the last points for the winners in the game. Muharraq started the game on a high note, taking a 29:27 lead and enjoyed 48:46 lead at the halftime. Al Rayyan meanwhile won the third period 24-21 and then managed to grab 2-point victory. Tany Alba top-scored for the winners with 22 points and Yasseen Ismail (204-F/C-80) netted 19. Clark Ira (203-C/F-75, college: Texas) replied with 19 points in the losing effort.

Sagesse successfully started their campaign to defend their title in Dubai after a win against Ball Above All. Sagesse's wonder duo of Terrell Stoglin (185-G-91, college: Maryland) and Michael Efevberha(193-G-84, college: CS Northridge) made all the difference starting the game. Known for their explosiveness and great shooting ability, they were both able to expand the defense and exploit the open spaces. Alex Okafor (ex Louaize) is a newcomer at Banijas !! - 1 month ago
Banijas Abu Dhabi (D1) strengthened their roster with addition of 30-year old American (has also Nigerian passport) forward Alex Okafor (202-102kg-87, college: Princeton). He played last season at Louaize in Lebanese Pepsi LBL. In 26 games he recorded very impressive stats: 17.0ppg, 8.2rpg and 2.6apg. Defending champion Al Ittihad Jeddah (SBL) landed 31-year old American forward Travis Gabbidon (201-86, college: UTSA). He has played for the last two years at Al Shaab in UAE D1 league.
