Thailand Slammers - Saigon Heat 75:77

Saigon Heat claimed the first win in the ASEAN League season. They snatched a narrow victory over the Thailand Slammers on the road. Dior Lowhorn (201-F-87, college: USF) notched 21 points and 10 rebounds to pace the winners.
The Heat eked out a 14:12 lead ten minutes into the game. They maintained the lead throughout the intense second frame. The visitors gained a 3-point halftime lead 32:29. The Slammers increased the tempo in the third term. The hosts went for 23 points in the period to cut the deficit to 2 points. It all came down to the final seconds in this one. David Palmer (206-F/C-86, college: N.Kentucky) drained a three-pointer to give the Heat a 77:72 lead with just over a minute remaining. Wacharapong Tongsri answered with a triple to narrow the gap, but he again missed another attempt that could have won the game for the Slammers. David Palmer produced 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Phillip Aaron Morrison contributed 19 points for the winning team. Michael Earl (203-F-85, college: Utah St.) answered with 19 points for the Slammers. Wutipong Dawsom and Wacharapong Tongsri had 16 points each in the loss.

Defending champion Mono Vampire Bangkok (TBL) landed 27-year old Maltese center Samuel Deguara (223-131kg-91). He played recently at Farmcochem in Malaysian MPL league. Three years ago Deguara was drafted by Erie Bay Hawks (D-League) in sixth round (98th overall). Among other achievements he won Malaysian MPL championship title in 2017. Hapoel Galil Gilboa (Winner League) strengthened their roster with addition of 26-year old American forward Cleveland Melvin(203-F-91, college: De Paul) (203-94kg-91, college: De Paul). He already started the season at Cibona in Croatian Premijer Liga. In 10 games he recorded 13.0ppg, 6.1rpg, 1.0apg, 1.5spg and 1.0bpg this season. Siliwangi lands Joel Clarke, ex Kabayan - 1 month ago
JNE Siliwangi Bandung (IBL) tabbed American power forward Joel Clarke (208, college: Huston-Tillotson). He played in the summer at Kabayan in Thailand TBL league. In 11 games he averaged 10.5ppg and 8.5rpg. Among other achievements Clarke's team won MPBA Regular Season in 2016. He received also All-RRAC Honorable Mention award in 2015 at his college time.
