Indonesia posted the first win at SEABA Cup. They held off Thailand for the opening win at the tournament. Arki Wisnu (187-G-88) knocked down 24 points to lead the winners.
The teams were all tied at 17 after ten minutes. Indonesia pulled in front in the second quarter. They accumulated a narrow 32:29 lead at halftime. Indonesia stretched the margin in the third frame. They held the hosts to 7 points taking a 17-point advantage with one quarter remaining 53:36. Thailand scored only 10 points in the final quarter allowing Indonesia to breeze to the victory. Faisal Julius Ahmad (179-PG-81) netted 14 points, while Galank Gunawan (194-PF-87) contributed 11 points for the winners. Wutipong Dasom answered with 9 points for Thailand. Danai Kongkum netted 8 points in the loss.

Hanoi Buffalos (VBA) agreed terms with experienced 35-year old American ex-international power forward Jordan Collins (208-110kg-82, college: North Carolina State). He played last summer at Thai General Equipment in Thailand TBL league. In 21 games he had 13.6ppg, 6.2rpg and 1.2apg. The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Collins' team was regular season runner-up in Thailand Basketball League in 2016. SeaHorses Mikawa (B League) inked 27-year old American forward Daniel Orton (208-116kg-90, college: Kentucky). He played in the summer at Hitech in Thailand TBL league. Orton managed to play in three leagues in three countries last year (!!!). In 19 TBL games he averaged 14.6ppg, 9.4rpg, 2.2apg, 1.1spg and 1.2bpg.
