Saigon Heat registered the seventh win in their inaugural ASEAN League season. They held off Bangkok Cobras for 7-12 record. The Cobras slipped at 6-13 record after the loss.
The Heat started to build the lead right from the start. The hosts knocked down 25 points in the opening period to claim an 11-point lead. The Heat maintained the lead throughout the second quarter. The Vietnamese team ensured a 42:30 halftime advantage. The Cobras started to show the signs of recovery in the third term. They nailed 21 points to cut the deficit to 9 points at the final intermission. The visitors maintained the pressure on the hosts during the final quarter but the Heat stayed calm and registered victory at the end. Jonathan Jones (211-C-79, agency: TSS Management) posted 29 points and 14 rebounds to lead the effort. Robert Sanz (191-G/F-81) added 17 points in the win. Gentry Lewis (206-F/C-81, college: Philander Smith) replied with 23 points and 15 boards for the Cobras. Chanachon Klahan (190-F-84) netted 17 points in the loss.

Defending champion Mono Vampire Bangkok (TBL) landed 27-year old Maltese center Samuel Deguara (223-131kg-91). He played recently at Farmcochem in Malaysian MPL league. Three years ago Deguara was drafted by Erie Bay Hawks (D-League) in sixth round (98th overall). Among other achievements he won Malaysian MPL championship title in 2017. Hapoel Galil Gilboa (Winner League) strengthened their roster with addition of 26-year old American forward Cleveland Melvin(203-F-91, college: De Paul) (203-94kg-91, college: De Paul). He already started the season at Cibona in Croatian Premijer Liga. In 10 games he recorded 13.0ppg, 6.1rpg, 1.0apg, 1.5spg and 1.0bpg this season. Siliwangi lands Joel Clarke, ex Kabayan - 25 days ago
JNE Siliwangi Bandung (IBL) tabbed American power forward Joel Clarke (208, college: Huston-Tillotson). He played in the summer at Kabayan in Thailand TBL league. In 11 games he averaged 10.5ppg and 8.5rpg. Among other achievements Clarke's team won MPBA Regular Season in 2016. He received also All-RRAC Honorable Mention award in 2015 at his college time.
