Petron Blaze consolidated their leading position in ASEAN League season. They sealed the 16th win beating visiting Bangkok Cobras. Nick Fazekas (211-F-85, college: Nevada) accounted for 25 points and 15 rebounds for the winners.
The Cobras recorded a 22:18 lead after ten minutes of action. But the Blaze turned things around in the second period. The hosts took over scoring 26 points and established a 44:38 halftime lead. The teams exchanged baskets throughout the third term. The Cobras cut the deficit by one point to trail by 5 at the final break 60:65. But Petron Blaze went on a 26:17 run in the final period to seal the victory at the end. Chris Banchero (185-G, agency: VVG Sports, college: Seattle Pacific) provided 22 points, while Leo Avenido (186-G-78) contributed 13 points in the win. Gentry Lewis (206-F/C-81, college: Philander Smith) answered with 20 points and 17 rebounds for the Cobras. Marvin Cruz (173-G-84) chipped in 16 points in the loss.

Batang Gilas is back in shape as they conquered Thailand, 113-46, in the SEABA Under-16 tournament on Wednesday, May 17 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Thailand vented its ire on Myanmar with a 102-35 shellacking Monday in the 2017 Seaba Championship.
