Phelps
26-year old forward Eugene Phelps (198-F-90) had an amazing evening in the last round for KKL and receives a Court Side Player of the Week award for round 26.
He had a double-double of 28 points and 18 rebounds, while his team edged out Pauian (#5, 13-16) 84-80. KKL is placed at 6th position in Taiwanese league. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 20 games and recorded just eight victories. Phelps turned to be KKL's top player in his first season with the team. Long Beach State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Phelps is league's best scorer averaging so far 28.4ppg and leads league in rebounds with 16.1rpg. Phelps is in league's top in and averages solid 1.2bpg.

Second best performed player last round was Herve Lamizana (208-F/C-81, agency: Basket Management Solutions) of Yulon Luxgen. He is Ivorian-French forward in his first season at Yulon Luxgen. In the last game Lamizana recorded impressive 29 points and 9 rebounds. Of course he led Yulon Luxgen to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Bank of Taiwan (#7, 7-21) 94-68. This victory allowed Yulon Luxgen to move up to 3rd position in the standings. His team's 17-11 record is not bad at all. Lamizana is a newcomer at Yulon Luxgen and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.7ppg (#4). He also registered 9.3 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to center Luke Nevill (218-C-86) of Bank of Taiwan (#7). Nevill scored 17 points and grabbed twenty five rebounds (!!!). Despite Nevill's great performance Bank of Taiwan lost 68-94 to the higher-ranked Yulon Luxgen (#3, 17-11). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Bank of Taiwan can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 7-21 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for Nevill he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Nevill has individually a great season in Taiwan. After 30 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.5ppg (5th best) and rebounds with 14.9rpg (3rd best). He also has 1.1bpg and FGP: 51.5%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Quincy Davis (206-F/C-83) of Pauian - 12 points, 14 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Shih-Yuan Chou (188-G-83) of Yulon Luxgen - 13 points and 5 rebounds
6. Tai-Jie Wang (183-G-92) of KKL - 12 points and 5 rebounds
7. Chun-Yen Peng (184-G-89) of Pauian - 10 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Tai-Hao Wu (203-F/C-85) of Pauian - 8 points and 5 rebounds
9. Ching-Pang Lin (190-F/G-85) of Pauian - 13 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Wei-Han Lin (178-PG-90) of KKL - 15 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

The Player of the Week awards are presented by Court Side. Court Side is the global leader in basketball management, and is widely regarded as the most dynamic and innovative company of its kind. It was the first Basketball Agency to launch its own website, and the first to have its own database. Court Side has more agents and manpower within its organization, than any other competitor, and its international network of basketball contacts is still unparalleled.

Slingers Win First Merlion Cup Game in Rout over Dinos, 89-69 - 28 days ago
The Singapore Slingers hadn't played in a long while, but were ready for their first game in the Merlion Cup 2017 against the Yulon Luxgen Dinos from Chinese-Taipei. It didn't look like the usual Singapore Slingers that fans had gotten used to see play in the OCBC Arena over the past two seasons. The regular faces like Xavier Alexander (198-G-88, college: S.Nazarene), Wong Wei Long, and Ng Hanbin (193-G/F-89) were there but it just felt a little off without having Justin Howard (209-C-81,...   [read more]
