Sim Bhullar
Indian-Canadian Sim Bhullar (226-C-92) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's leader Dacin Tigers and that's him to receive a Court Side Player of the Week award for round 25.
The 24-year old center had a double-double of 24 points and fourteen rebounds, while his team beat Taiwan Beer (#2, 17-11) 97-85. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Dacin Tigers to consolidate first place in the Taiwanese SBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Dacin Tigers has a very solid 20-8 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. Bhullar turned to be Dacin Tigers' top player in his first season with the team. New Mexico State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Bhullar is in league's top in points (3rd best: 20.0ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 15.4rpg) and averages solid 2.6bpg and 67.4% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 30-year old American center Bryan Davis (206-C-86) of second-ranked Taiwan Beer. Davis impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 27 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Taiwan Beer lost that game 85-97 to slightly higher-ranked Dacin Tigers (#1, 20-8). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Taiwan Beer still maintains its place in the top 2 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 17-11 record is not bad at all. Davis is a newcomer at Taiwan Beer and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.8ppg (#2). His other stats are also decent: 13.7rpg and 5.0apg.

The third best performed player last round was Ivorian Herve Lamizana (208-F/C-81, agency: Basket Management Solutions) of Yulon Luxgen (#3). Lamizana got into 30-points club by scoring 34 points in the last round. He went also for ten rebounds . He was a key player of Yulon Luxgen, leading his team to a 90-84 win against #4 ranked Fubon Braves. Yulon Luxgen needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 17 victories and 11 lost games. Lamizana has a great season in Taiwan. After 29 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.4ppg (4th best), rebounds with 9.3rpg (9th best) and assists with 2.8apg (9th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Quincy Davis (206-F/C-83) of Pauian - 27 points and 11 rebounds
5. Patrick O'Bryant (213-C-86) of Fubon Braves - 19 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists
6. Wei-Che Lee (179-G-91) of Bank of Taiwan - 27 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Eugene Phelps (198-F-90) of KKL - 21 points, 15 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Cheng-Ju Lu (194-F-86) of Yulon Luxgen - 21 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Yi-Xiang Zhou (191-G-91) of Dacin Tigers - 21 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Jie Guo-Shao (190-F-90) of Bank of Taiwan - 23 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

The Player of the Week awards are presented by Court Side. Court Side is the global leader in basketball management, and is widely regarded as the most dynamic and innovative company of its kind. It was the first Basketball Agency to launch its own website, and the first to have its own database. Court Side has more agents and manpower within its organization, than any other competitor, and its international network of basketball contacts is still unparalleled.

Gilas regains bearings in Jones Cup with win over Taiwan Blue - 4 days ago
Over 24 hours after getting rattled by an opening day loss to Canada, Gilas Pilipinas regained its bearings and bounced back with a convincing 88-72 win over Chinese Taipei A or Taiwan Blue during the 2017 William Jones Cup on Sunday, July 16 in Taipei, Taiwan. The Philippines flipped the script with an all-new boost in energy and aggression to set the tone from the get-go. That paved the way for 3-point shots to finally fall and for Taiwan's zone defense to lose its effectiveness. Matthe...   [read more]
