Sim Bhullar
Indian-Canadian Center Sim Bhullar (226-C-92) had a great game in the last round for top-ranked Dacin Tigers, receiving a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 24.
The 24-year old player had a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds, while his team beat Pauian (#5, 13-14) 98-91. It allowed Dacin Tigers to consolidate first place in the Taiwanese SBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Dacin Tigers has a very solid 19-8 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. Bhullar turned to be Dacin Tigers' top player in his first season with the team. Former New Mexico State University star has very solid stats this year. Bhullar is in league's top in points (3rd best: 19.9ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 15.4rpg) and averages impressive 2.6bpg and 67.1% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 33-year old American power forward Quincy Davis (206-F/C-83) of Pauian. Davis had a very good evening with a double-double of 34 points and 12 rebounds. Bad luck as Pauian lost that game 91-98 to the higher-ranked Dacin Tigers (#1, 19-8). Pauian is still second from the bottom in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 13-14 record. Davis is a newcomer at Pauian, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 15.7ppg (#2). He also registered 12.1 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was American center Bryan Davis (206-C-86) of league's second-best Taiwan Beer. Davis showcased his all-around game by recording 29 points, nineteen rebounds (!!!) and four assists in the last round. Despite Davis' great performance Taiwan Beer lost 77-83 to #4 ranked Yulon Luxgen. But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Taiwan Beer needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 17 victories and 10 lost games. Davis has a great season in Taiwan. After 23 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 21.5ppg (2nd best), rebounds with 13.9rpg (4th best) and assists with 4.8apg (best passer). He also has 2.7spg and 1.9bpg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Luke Nevill (218-C-86) of Bank of Taiwan - 15 points and 15 rebounds
5. Yen-Tsung Shih (194-F/C-92) of Dacin Tigers - 22 points and 8 rebounds
6. Yi-Xiang Zhou (191-G-91) of Dacin Tigers - 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists
7. Shinian Chen (180-G-84) of Yulon Luxgen - 19 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Ching-Pang Lin (190-F/G-85) of Pauian - 13 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Bo-Wei Zhang (190-F-90) of Fubon Braves - 19 points and 3 rebounds
10. Herve Lamizana (208-F/C-81) of Yulon Luxgen - 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Slingers Win First Merlion Cup Game in Rout over Dinos, 89-69 - 2 days ago
The Singapore Slingers hadn't played in a long while, but were ready for their first game in the Merlion Cup 2017 against the Yulon Luxgen Dinos from Chinese-Taipei. It didn't look like the usual Singapore Slingers that fans had gotten used to see play in the OCBC Arena over the past two seasons. The regular faces like Xavier Alexander (198-G-88, college: S.Nazarene), Wong Wei Long, and Ng Hanbin (193-G/F-89) were there but it just felt a little off without having Justin Howard (209-C-81,...   [read more]

Slingers cruise to opening Merlion Cup win - 3 days ago
