Bryan Davis
30-year old center Bryan Davis (206-C-86) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for second-ranked Taiwan Beer and receives a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 23.
He had a double-double of 36 points and 15 rebounds, while his team beat KKL (#6, 7-19) 99-91. Taiwan Beer maintains the 2nd position in Taiwanese league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Taiwan Beer will need more victories to improve their 17-10 record. In the team's last game Davis had a remarkable 63.6% from 2-point range. He turned to be Taiwan Beer's top player in his first season with the team. Texas A&M University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Davis is in league's top in points (2nd best: 20.9ppg), rebounds (4th best: 13.8rpg) and averages solid 1.9bpg and 3.0spg.

Second best performed player last round was Quincy Davis (206-F/C-83) of Pauian. He is naturalized American forward in his first season at Pauian. In the last game Davis recorded impressive double-double of 21 points and 20 rebounds. Of course Pauian cruised to a 75-63 relatively comfortable win over slightly higher-ranked Yulon Luxgen (#4, 15-11). Pauian's 5th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 13-14 record. Davis is a newcomer at Pauian and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 15.1ppg (#2). He also registered 12.1 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to center Sim Bhullar (226-C-92) of league's leader Dacin Tigers. Bhullar scored 24 points and grabbed twenty rebounds (!!!). Despite Bhullar's great performance Dacin Tigers lost 86-90 to the lower-ranked KKL (#6, 7-19). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Dacin Tigers needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 19 victories and 8 lost games. Bhullar has a great season in Taiwan. After 28 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 20.0ppg (3rd best) and rebounds with 15.6rpg (2nd best). He also has 2.6bpg and FGP: 67.0%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Eugene Phelps (198-F-90) of KKL - 38 points, 15 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Eugene Phelps (198-F-90) of KKL - 42 points and 16 rebounds
6. Bryan Davis (206-C-86) of Taiwan Beer - 28 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Sim Bhullar (226-C-92) of Dacin Tigers - 20 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Yu-An Chiang (174-PG-91) of Taiwan Beer - 24 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Yi-Xiang Zhou (191-G-91) of Dacin Tigers - 21 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Po-Hsun Chou (197-PF-91) of Taiwan Beer - 13 points and 8 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Slingers Win First Merlion Cup Game in Rout over Dinos, 89-69 - 28 days ago
The Singapore Slingers hadn't played in a long while, but were ready for their first game in the Merlion Cup 2017 against the Yulon Luxgen Dinos from Chinese-Taipei. It didn't look like the usual Singapore Slingers that fans had gotten used to see play in the OCBC Arena over the past two seasons. The regular faces like Xavier Alexander (198-G-88, college: S.Nazarene), Wong Wei Long, and Ng Hanbin (193-G/F-89) were there but it just felt a little off without having Justin Howard (209-C-81,...   [read more]
