SBL Round 19: Yulon Luxgen edges Taiwan Beer by three points - Jan 15, 2017

The most exciting game of round 19 in the SBL ended with only three-point defeat of 4th placed Taiwan Beer (13-10) to third ranked Yulon Luxgen (15-9) 76-73 in the game for the third place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Taiwan Beer. Yulon Luxgen made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. Ivorian-French power forward Herve Lamizana (208-81, college: Rutgers, agency: Basket Management Solutions) fired a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks for the winners. The former international forward Cheng-Ju Lu (194-86) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. American center Bryan Davis (206-86, college: Texas A&M) produced a double-double by scoring 30 points, 23 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for lost side. Yulon Luxgen maintains third place with 15-9 record having just one point less than leader Dacin Tigers. Defending champion Taiwan Beer keeps the fourth position with ten games lost. Yulon Luxgen will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Taiwan Beer will play against the league's leader Dacin Tigers (#1) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.

Worth to mention a great performance of Indian-Canadian center Sim Bhullar (226-92, college: N.Mexico St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points, 23 rebounds and 6 blocks. Yi-Xiang Zhou contributed with 24 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American center Earl Barron (211-81, college: Memphis) answered with 15 points and 8 rebounds for Fubon Braves. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dacin Tigers have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 17-6 record. Fubon Braves at the other side keep the second position with eight games lost. Dacin Tigers will play against Taiwan Beer (#4) in the next round. Fubon Braves will play against Bank of Taiwan and hope to get back on the winning track.
The game in was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Pauian (11-12) played at the court of 6th ranked Bank of Taiwan (5-18). Pauian defeated Bank of Taiwan 69-56 on Saturday. It was a great evening for Quincy Davis who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. At the losing side Luke Nevill responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Pauian maintains fifth place with 11-12 record. Bank of Taiwan lost their eighth game in a row. They keep the sixth position with 18 games lost. They share it with KKL. Pauian will meet bottom-ranked KKL (#7) in the next round. Bank of Taiwan will play against the league's second-placed Fubon Braves and hope to secure a win.

It was an exceptional evening for Bryan Davis who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Taiwan Beer. Defending champion maintains fourth place with 13-10 record. KKL lost their fifth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 18 games lost. Taiwan Beer's next round opponent will be league's leader Dacin Tigers and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. KKL will play against Pauian (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 19 Bank of Taiwan was defeated by Yulon Luxgen 71-62.

It was an exceptional evening for American center Bryan Davis (206-86, college: Texas A&M) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Huan-Ya Yu (183-93) accounted for 17 points for the winning side. American forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: Long Beach St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds and the former international power forward Kuan-Chuan Chen (197-93) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for KKL in the defeat.
