SBL Round 16: Dacin Tigers beat Yulon Luxgen in the most crucial game of the week - Jan 2, 2017

An exciting game was when second ranked Second ranked Dacin Tigers faced 3rd ranked Yulon Luxgen. Dacin Tigers (14-6) defeated Yulon Luxgen (12-8) 81-66. Indian-Canadian center Sim Bhullar (226-92, college: N.Mexico St.) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 18 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Guard Yi-Xiang Zhou (191-91) chipped in 17 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Ivorian-French power forward Herve Lamizana (208-81, college: Rutgers) produced 23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dacin Tigers keep a position of league leader, which they share with Fubon Braves. Yulon Luxgen at the other side keeps the third place with eight games lost. Dacin Tigers is looking forward to face Bank of Taiwan (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Yulon Luxgen will play against KKL and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.

Worth to mention a great performance of Canadian center Liam McMorrow (218-87, college: Tenn Tech) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 18 rebounds. Wen-Cheng Tsai contributed with 12 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: Long Beach St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 24 rebounds for KKL. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Fubon Braves maintains first position with 14-6 record, which they share with Dacin Tigers. KKL at the other side dropped to the bottom place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Bank of Taiwan. Fubon Braves will play against Pauian (#5) in the next round. KKL will play against Yulon Luxgen and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Pauian did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 94-76 on Saturday. Worth to mention a great performance of Quincy Davis who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). At the losing side Bryan Davis responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Pauian maintains fifth position with 8-11 record. Defending champion Taiwan Beer keeps the fourth place with nine games lost. Pauian will meet league's leader Fubon Braves in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Taiwan Beer will play against KKL and hope to secure a win.

Four Pauian players scored in double figures. At the losing side American center Bryan Davis (206-86, college: Texas A&M) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and Yu-Lin Chang (190-86) scored 12 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Pauian maintains fifth position with 8-11 record. Yulon Luxgen defeated Bank of Taiwan 86-76. 25 personal fouls committed by Bank of Taiwan helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by the former international guard Shih-Yuan Chou (188-83) who scored that evening 25 points and 5 rebounds and Ivorian-French power forward Herve Lamizana (208-81, college: Rutgers) supported him with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
