24-year old center Sim Bhullar (226-C-92) had a great game in the last round for league's best team Dacin Tigers and receives a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 14.
He had a double-double of 22 points and 18 rebounds, while his team beat Taiwan Beer (#4, 9-8) 90-77. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Dacin Tigers to take over top position in the Taiwanese league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Dacin Tigers has a very solid 12-5 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. Bhullar turned to be Dacin Tigers' top player in his first season with the team. New Mexico State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Bhullar is in league's top in points (2nd best: 19.1ppg), rebounds (3rd best: 14.2rpg) and averages solid 2.5bpg and 66.2% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Liam McMorrow (218-C-87) of league's second-best Fubon Braves. He is Canadian center in his first season at Fubon Braves. In the last game McMorrow recorded impressive double-double of 21 points and 25 rebounds. Bad luck as Fubon Braves was edged by slightly lower-ranked Yulon Luxgen (#3, 11-6) 70-68. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Fubon Braves still maintains its place in the top 2 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 12-6 record is not bad at all. McMorrow is a newcomer at Fubon Braves and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 14.7ppg (#6). He also registered 12.3 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Quincy Davis (206-F/C-83) of Pauian (#5). Davis scored 24 points and grabbed sixteen rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Pauian, leading his team to a 82-71 win against slightly lower-ranked KKL (#7, 4-13). The chances of Pauian ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 10 games, recording just seven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Davis could help Pauian to bring them higher in the standings. Davis has a great season in Taiwan. After 17 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 12.9ppg (5th best), rebounds with 11.1rpg (4th best) and assists with 1.8apg (best passer). He also has 1.6bpg and FGP: 63.6%. Quincy Davis has also Taiwanese passport and can play in the league with a status of domestic player.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Yi-Hui Lin (193-F-86) of Dacin Tigers - 27 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Bryan Davis (206-C-86) of Taiwan Beer - 22 points, 14 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Huan-Ya Yu (183-G-93) of Taiwan Beer - 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists
7. Bryan Davis (206-C-86) of Taiwan Beer - 16 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists
8. Herve Lamizana (208-F/C-81) of Yulon Luxgen - 26 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Eugene Phelps (198-F-90) of KKL - 28 points and 10 rebounds
10. Po-Hsun Chou (197-PF-91) of Taiwan Beer - 17 points and 3 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Taiwan beat South Korea 77-64 for title - 15 days ago
Taiwan's national team surprised defending champions South Korea with a 77-64 victory in Nagano, Japan, to win the International Basketball Federation's East Asia Basketball Championship crown for the first time. South Korea, looking to extend their run of three consecutive titles, began the stronger side, going ahead 20-15 in the first quarter. However, Taiwan reversed the deficit in the second quarter, with point guard Cheng Liu (192-F-90) and center Quincy Davis (206-F/C-83, college: T...   [read more]
