Eugene Phelps gets MVP of the Week award for Taiwanese SBL - Dec 25, 2016

American Eugene Phelps (198-F-90) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for KKL and that's him to receive a Player of the Week award for round 13.
The 26-year old forward had a double-double of 46 points and twenty nine rebounds, while his team beat Bank of Taiwan (#6, 5-12) 106-101. KKL maintains the 7th position in Taiwanese SBL. The season is in a full swing, so it's only a dream for the team to make it into top half of the standings. For contrary they may face relegation if the situation turns from bad to worse. KKL have already lost 13 games and recorded just four victories. Phelps turned to be KKL's top player in his first season with the team. Long Beach State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Phelps is league's best scorer averaging so far 29.4ppg and leads league in rebounds with 16.1rpg. Phelps is in league's top in and averages solid 1.1bpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 30-year old Australian center Luke Nevill (218-C-86) of Bank of Taiwan. Nevill impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 37 points and 26 rebounds. Bad luck as Bank of Taiwan lost that game 101-106 to slightly lower-ranked KKL (#7, 4-13). Bank of Taiwan managed to keep the same 6th spot in the standings. 12 lost games are too many comparing to just five victories Bank of Taiwan managed to get this year. Nevill is well-known by Bank of Taiwan fans and he already established his position as one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.3ppg (#3). He also registered 14.5 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was Indian Sim Bhullar (226-C-92) of second-ranked Dacin Tigers. Bhullar scored 22 points and grabbed twenty rebounds (!!!). Despite Bhullar's great performance Dacin Tigers lost 86-102 to #1 ranked Fubon Braves. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Dacin Tigers needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 11 victories and 5 lost games. Bhullar has a great season in Taiwan. After 16 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.9ppg (2nd best) and rebounds with 13.9rpg (3rd best). He also has 2.6bpg and FGP: 66.3%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Herve Lamizana (208-F/C-81) of Yulon Luxgen - 13 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists
5. Po-Chen Chou (196-SG-90) of Yulon Luxgen - 15 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
