SBL Round 12: #1 Dacin Tigers are defeated by Bank of Taiwan - Dec 19, 2016

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Dacin Tigers (11-4) against sixth ranked Bank of Taiwan on Saturday night. Bank of Taiwan were defeated by sixth ranked Bank of Taiwan (5-10) 80-70. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Dacin Tigers. 25 personal fouls committed by Dacin Tigers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Li-Chuan Cheng (189-88) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 7 rebounds and international guard Wei-Che Lee (179-91) who added 16 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was Indian-Canadian center Sim Bhullar (226-92, college: N.Mexico St.) with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bank of Taiwan have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 5-10 record. Dacin Tigers at the other side still keep top place with four games lost. Bank of Taiwan are looking forward to face bottom-ranked KKL (#7) in the next round. Dacin Tigers will play against the league's second-placed Fubon Braves (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a loss of second ranked Fubon Braves (10-5) against fifth ranked Pauian (6-9) on Sunday night. Fubon Braves were defeated by Pauian 81-70. The winners were led by international power forward Quincy Davis (206-83, college: Tulane) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 13 points, 15 rebounds and 6 blocks and Tse-Wei Chen supported him with 25 points. Even 24 points and 9 rebounds by guard Yu-Hsuan Sung (183-89) did not help to save the game for Fubon Braves. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Pauian maintains fifth position with 6-9 record. Fubon Braves at the other side keep the second place with five games lost. Pauian will play against higher ranked Yulon Luxgen (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Fubon Braves will play against the league's leader Dacin Tigers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Taiwan Beer did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 76-58 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was Bryan Davis who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 26 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks. At the other side the best for losing team was Eugene Phelps who recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains fourth position with 8-6 record. KKL lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 12 games lost. Taiwan Beer will meet league's second-placed Fubon Braves in the next round and it may be the game of the week. KKL will play against Bank of Taiwan (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 12 bottom-ranked KKL lost to Yulon Luxgen 67-79.

Yulon Luxgen - KKL 79-67

Rather expected game when 7th ranked KKL (3-12) was defeated by fourth ranked Yulon Luxgen (9-6) 79-67 on Sunday. Yulon Luxgen made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Strangely KKL outrebounded Yulon Luxgen 39-27 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Yulon Luxgen made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was international Po-Chen Chou (196-90) who scored 20 points. Ivorian-French power forward Herve Lamizana (208-81, college: Rutgers, agency: Basket Management Solutions) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 7 blocks. Four Yulon Luxgen players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: Long Beach St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points and 20 rebounds and international swingman Wei-Ju Chien (185-92) added 15 points and 5 steals (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Yulon Luxgen moved-up to third place. KKL lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Yulon Luxgen will meet Pauian (#5) in the next round. KKL will play against Bank of Taiwan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
