SBL Round 8: Fubon Braves defeat Yulon Luxgen in the game between Top 4 teams - Dec 6, 2016

An interesting game for Fubon Braves (9-2) which played against second-ranked Yulon Luxgen (7-3). First ranked Fubon Braves had an easy win 74-59. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Yulon Luxgen. They outrebounded Yulon Luxgen 49-19 including a 36-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Canadian center Liam McMorrow (218-87, college: Tenn Tech) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 18 rebounds. The former international forward Hsiao-Jung Chen (197-90) contributed with 10 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Ivorian-French power forward Herve Lamizana (208-81, college: Rutgers, agency: Basket Management Solutions) replied with 24 points and 6 rebounds for Yulon Luxgen. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fubon Braves maintains first position with 9-2 record. Yulon Luxgen at the other side keeps the second place with three games lost. They share the position with Dacin Tigers. Fubon Braves are looking forward to face Taiwan Beer (#4) in the next round. Yulon Luxgen will play against KKL and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.

Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: Long Beach St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds and Tai-Jie Wang who added 18 points and 4 steals during the contest. Australian center Luke Nevill (218-86, college: Utah) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. KKL maintains sixth position with 3-7 record. Bank of Taiwan lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with nine games lost. KKL will play against higher ranked Yulon Luxgen (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Bank of Taiwan will play against Pauian (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 8 Pauian was beaten by Taiwan Beer 73-69.

Bank of Taiwan - KKL 85-95

The game in was also worth to mention about. Sixth ranked KKL (3-7) played at the court of 7th ranked Bank of Taiwan (1-9). KKL defeated Bank of Taiwan 95-85. KKL made 22-of-28 charity shots (78.6 percent) during the game. Bank of Taiwan was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: Long Beach St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds and guard Tai-Jie Wang (183-92) who added 18 points and 4 steals during the contest. Five KKL players scored in double figures. Australian center Luke Nevill (218-86, college: Utah) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds and international guard Wei-Che Lee (179-91) scored 15 points. The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked Taiwan Beer's (5-5) victory over 5th ranked Pauian (4-7) 73-69. Taiwan Beer forced 22 Pauian turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Bryan Davis (206-86, college: Texas A&M) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and international Po-Hsun Chou (197-91) who added 17 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. International power forward Quincy Davis (206-83, college: Tulane) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds and international swingman Chi-Wei Lee (192-93) scored 15 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Taiwan Beer have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains fourth position with 5-5 record. Pauian lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with seven games lost. Taiwan Beer will play against league's second-placed Dacin Tigers in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Pauian will play against Bank of Taiwan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Shenzhen - Pauian 86:74 Shenzhen Leopards secured the starting victory at the Super 8 tournament in Macau. They topped Pauian behind 22 points from Keith Langford (193-SG-83, college: Kansas).
