Syria overcame India, as both of them will play for 9-12 places at the 22nd FIBA Asia U18 Championship. Syria won 69:57 and finished the 2-3 record in Group E as well as Lebanon and Japan. It was not however enough to advance to the Quarterfinals due to the games between each other. India finished the group with 0-5 record on the last place.
India won the first period 17-14 and then scored another 17 points in the second frame. Syria also scored 17 and trailed 3 points at the halftime. Syria however dominated the second half. They produced 22-10 in the third period and finished the game with 16-13 in the last stanza.
Mahmmoud Trub (195-F-94) top-scored for the winners with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Ali Obesi (188-F-94) had 17. Palpreet Singh Brar (204-C-94) ended up with 19 points and 13 rebounds in defeat, while Rakesh Singh (198-PF-95) added 14. Amit Kanarjee (187-PG-94) brought 12 and Shyam Sunder (179-PG-94) scored 8.

Despite a very slow start from Lebanon against Syria, and in the absence of crucial starters such as Fadi El Khatib (198-F/G-79) & Wael Arakji(194-PG-94), the Lebanese basketball NT managed to finally win 78-64. Today's victory makes it 5 from 5 for the Cedars team, who finished the 2017 WABA Championship with a perfect record. 30-year old naturalized Syrian point guard Giannis Deep (186-86). He played last season at Ionikos Nikaias in the B. C will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time.
