Japan U18-Syria U18 71:73

Syria upset Japan in Group B of the 22nd FIBA Asia U18 Championship. The team grabbed 73:71 win to finish on the second place with 2-1 record. Japan meanwhile dropped to the third position with 1-2 record.
Both teams nailed 15 points each in the first period and proved the importance of the game. They added 19 points each in the second frame as the board showed even numbers at the halftime. Japan seemed to have a better break and won the third period 24-20, but could not seal the victory. Shuto Terazono (165-PG-94) scored for 70:70 with 1 minute to go, while SHNNO and Ali Obesi (188-F-94) gave Syria the important win.
Ali Obesi top-scored for the winners with 21 points and Mourad Hashim (176-G-95) notched 20. Mahmmoud Trub (195-F-94) followed them with 9 points in a win. Masahiro Narita (185-SF-94) replied with 19 points in the losing effort and Shuto Terazono scored 15. Yuta Watanabe (200-SF-94) delivered 13, whilst Yuta Osaka (179-PG-94) nailed 9.

Al Jaish celebrate 2015/2016 League title - Apr 26, 2016

Al Jaish celebrated Syrian Basketball League 2015/2016 title after the team swept the Final series against Al-Karamah 3-0. In Game 1 Al Jaish won 77:62 and then added an 84-73 win. In the third game Al Jaish grabbed an 87-79 victory and the trophy of the League. Earlier in the semifinals Al Jaish overcame Al-Ittihad twice in the series. Al-Karamah needed a decisive third game against Al-Wahda to beat them 51-50 and won the series 2-1.   [read more]

Syrian Basketball Federation announced earlier today that they signed with 45 years old Syrian coach and the current head coach of Ittihad Aleppo club coach Alaa Jokhaji to be new head coach of Syrian National Team .. he will replace the current coach of Wehda Club Hady Darwish who coached the national team last 2 years.
