Singapore U18-Syria U18 47:78

Syria won the opener of the 22nd FIBA Asia U18 Championship. Syria grabbed a 78:47 win in the first game of the tournament. Singapore, who made a comeback into the competition after a six-year gap began and well and the SEABA team kept pace with their much taller rivals for the entire first half.
Syria took 14:13 lead in the opening period but pushed the tempo for good later in the game. They added 19-16 in the second frame and enjoyed 33:29 lead at the halftime. The third quarter was decisive in the game as Syria erupted with 26-11 in it. Moreover thy closed the game with 19-7 in the last stanza for the final result.
Mohamad Atle (199-C-95) top-scored for the winners with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Mahmmoud Trub (195-F-94) added 11. Ockba Baghajati (182-G-94) and Mourad Hashim (176-G-95) delivered 10 points each. Ding Loon TAY posted 14 points in the losing effort. Jun Wei TAN and Weng Hon Low Remus (183-F-94) followed him with 8 each.

Newly promoted Sulaf (Superleague) inked 27-year old Syrian ex-international power forward Tofek Saleh (207-90). He has a double citizenship as he also holds Palestinian passport.
